Shania Twain Life

Shania Twain, Orange County (born Eilleen Regina Edwards; August 28, 1965) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress.

She has sold more than 100 million albums, making her the country's top-selling female artist and one of the top-selling music artists of all time.

Twain, a young girl from Timmins, Ontario, began singing and songwriting at a young age before signing with Mercury Nashville Records in the early 1990s. Her success earned her multiple accolades, including the "Queen of Country Pop."

Since being released in 1993, her self-titled debut studio album saw little commercial success.

Twain came to fame with her second studio album, The Woman in Me (1995), which brought her widespread success. She worked with producer and later husband Robert John "Mutt" Lange.

It has sold 20 million copies around the world, spawned hit singles like "Any Man of Mine" and won her a Grammy Award.

Come On Over (1997), her third studio album of all time by a female artist or a country album, sold nearly 40 million copies worldwide.

"You're Still the One," "From This Moment On," and "Man!

I Feel Like a Woman!

"Twain received four Grammy Awards," Twain says.

Her fourth studio album, Up!

In the United States, she was also rated Diamond. Twain went through a hiatus in 2004, only to discover years later that Lyme disease and dysphonia had caused a severely diminished singing voice.

On the OWN miniseries Why Not?, she chronicled her vocal recovery. Shania Twain performed "Today Is Your Day" on her first album in six years, "Today Is Your Day," and she also released an autobiography, From This Moment On.

Twain returned to perform in the following year as part of The Colosseum in Shania, Shania: The One, which ran until 2014.

She began the North American Rock This Country Tour in 2015, which was billed as her farewell tour.

Twain's first studio album in 15 years was released in 2017, but now she is embarking on the Shania Now Tour in 2018. Twain has received five Grammy Awards, 27 BMI Songwriter Awards, appeared on Canada's Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

The RIAA has rated her as the only female artist in history to have three (consecutive) albums as Diamond by the RIAA.

She is the country's sixth best-selling female artist.

Twain is ranked as the tenth best-selling artist of the Nielsen SoundScan period.

Early life

On August 28, 1965, Twain was born in Windsor, Ontario, to Sharon (née Morrison) and Clarence Edwards. Jill and Carrie Ann are Jill and Carrie Ann's two sisters. When she was two years old, her parents divorced, and her mother and her children migrated to Timmins, Ontario, with her children. Sharon married Jerry Twain, an Ojibwa from nearby Mattagami First Nation, and Mark and his son, Mark, were together. Jerry adopted the children and legally changed their surname to Twain. Jerry and Sharon adopted Darryl's baby nephew Darryl as a child when Mark was a child when his mother died. The media has incorrectly announced that she is of Ojibwe descent as a result of Twain's ties to Jerry. Twain said she did not explain why she didn't choose Edwards as her father for years because she didn't want to publicly acknowledge him as her father for years.

Twain currently has a badge and is on the official band membership list of the Temagami First Nation. In 1991, the singer was granted a recording deal in Nashville and applied for immigrant visa rights to the United States. Shania became legally recognised as having 56% Native American blood at that time, despite her stepfather Jerry Twain's being a full-blooded Ojibwe and the guarantees to Native Americans in the Jay Treaty (1795).

Twain has said that as an infant, she was told by her mother that her biological father was a Cree, a charge that his family denies. She has a confirmed ancestry of English, French, and Irish people. She is a descendant of French carpenter Zacharie Cloutier and she descends from her maternal great-grandmother. Eileen Pearce, her Irish maternal grandmother, emigrated from Newbridge, County Kildare.

Twain has recalled a difficult childhood. Her parents had no money, and they were often hungry, so food was often in short supply in their household. Twain did not inform school authorities because they might break up the family. Her mother and her stepfather's marriage was tumultuous at times, and she witnessed abuse from both parents and grandfathers from a young age. Her mother endured with bouts of depression as well. Twain eventually persuaded her mother to give her and the children away to a homeless shelter in Toronto, but Sharon returned to Jerry with the children in 1981. Twain, a young girl in Timmins, began performing at bars to help pay her family's bills; after the bar had stopped serving alcohol, she often earned $20 between midnight and 1 a.m. Despite her dislike for performing in those bars, Twain believes this was her own kind of performing-arts school on the road. "My deepest obsession was music, and it supported." She wrote about the ordeal, "It helped." I'll admit it at times that I thought, 'I hate this.' I hated going into bars and being with inebriated. "I loved the music, but I survived." "Creating, not writing songs, was very different from performing them, and it became increasingly significant."

Twain was invited to appear on the CBC's Tommy Hunter Show at age 13. She was also the singer for a local band called Longshot, which covered Top 40 hits while attending Timmins High and Vocational School. Twain spent time in the early 1980s in northern Ontario, where the firm, which employed 75 Ojibwe and Cree workers, were employed. "I loved the feeling of being homeless" despite the fact that the job was demanding and the wages were low, Twain said. I'm not afraid of being in my own house, being physically fit, and working hard. I was extremely fit, walked miles and miles a day and carried heavy loads of trees. You can't shampoo, use soap or deodorant, or makeup; there is no such thing in the air; you have to bathe and wash your clothes in the lake. It was a very primitive existence, but I was also very imaginative, and I'd just write songs instead of sitting outside with my dog and a guitar.

Personal life

After hearing her original songs and singing from her debut album, Twain met producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, who later offered to produce and write songs with her. They first met at the Fan Fair in Nashville in June 1993 and then got close. They were married on December 28, 1993, and they had a son, Eja (pronounced "Asia"), who died on August 12, 2001. Twain and Lange were spotted on May 15, 2008, after Lange reportedly had an affair with Twain's best friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud. Their divorce was finalized on June 9, 2010. Twain was engaged to Swiss Nestlé executive Frédéric Thiébaud, Marie-Anne's former husband, on December 20, 2010. They were married in Rincón, Puerto Rico, on January 1, 2011.

Twain is a vegetarian and a follower of Sant Mat, an Eastern spiritual tradition. Shania Kids Can, a charity that was established in 2010, was founded to address the needs of homeless children who are often overlooked by social care services. From This Moment On, Twain's autobiography, From This Moment On, was released on March 27, 2011. She is a long-time resident of Corseaux, Switzerland, where her son was born. Twain is a hockey fan. Twain will often wear the jersey of the local National Hockey League team when competing.

Shania Twain Career

Career

In June 1983, Twain graduated from Timmins High eager to expand her musical horizons. Twain was approached by a cover band led by Diane Chase named "Flirt" and toured all over Ontario with them after Longshot's demise. She also took singing lessons from Toronto-based coach Ian Garrett, who often took care of his house as payment. Twain's talent were discovered by Toronto DJ Stan Campbell, who wrote about her in a Country Music News article in 1984: "Eilleen has a powerful voice with an impressive range." To achieve her goals, she has the necessary motivation, aspiration, and positive attitude. Campbell was recording an album by Canadian musician (and present-day CKTB radio host) Tim Denis at the time, and Twain appeared on the back vocals of the song "Heavy on the Sunshine." "I saw this little girl on stage with a guitar and it completely blew me away," country singer Mary Bailey watched Twain perform in Sudbury, Ontario. "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" were two of Willie Nelson's "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." Her voice reminded me of Tanya Tucker, a strong sense of personality and a lot of emotion. She's a celebrity, so she deserves a chance." "She sang a few songs she had written," Bailey said later, and I thought to myself, this kid is like nineteen years old, where does she get this? This is from a person who has lived 60 years.

Twain's mother and grandfather died in a car accident about 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of Wawa, Ontario, on November 1, 1987. She returned to Timmins to care for her younger siblings and took them all to Huntsville, Ontario, where she helped them all by earning money at the nearby Deerhurst Resort.

Several years later, as Twain's children went out on their own, she and her Huntsville manager set up a demo tape of her songs and invited her to perform her music to record executives. She attracted the attention of a few companies, including Mercury Nashville Records, who dated her within a few months. During this period, she changed her name to Shania, which was supposed to be an Ojibwa word that means "on my way." However, Robin Eggar, Twain's biographer, writes: "There's still a lot of mystery regarding what 'Shania' means and whether or not it's an Ojibwe word or phrase at all." In either Ojibwe or Cree, there is no mispronounced or misheard word that comes close to saying, 'on my way.' "However, the legend of her name continues to be recited in the media to this day." Eggar was mistaken about there being no Ojibwe word that "comes close," as "Ani ayaa" in Ojibwe, which means "someone on the way" in Ojibwe, according to Eggar. It's also possible that someone with limited knowledge of the Ojibwe language created Shania with the incorrect belief that saying "she's on the way" rather than saying "they're on the way."

Twain's self-titled debut album was released in North America on April 20, 1993, and it attracted international attention. She performed backing vocals for other Mercury artists, including on Jeff Chance's album Walk Softly on the Bridges (1992) and Sammy Kershaw's album Haunted Heart (1993). Shania Twain's ranking was merely at No. 1, although Shania Twain came in last. On the US Country Albums Chart, it ranks 67, with laudatory comments from critics. The album's initial success caused enough enthusiasm for the album to be named platinum by the RIAA in 1999, despite that the album's not selling more than 1 million copies. "What Made You Say That" and "Dance With the One That Brought You" were two minor hit singles in the United States, with "What Made You Say That" and "Dance With the One That Brought You" on the album. "You Lay a Whole Lot of Love on Me," the third and final single, failed to chart. Both of the three singles had accompanying music videos. Twain received the highest accolade in Europe, where the album was more popular in Europe, where Twain was named "Rising Video Star of the Year" by Country Music Television Europe. Twain's memoir From This Moment On, a 2011 autobiography, she expressed dissatisfaction with her debut studio album, revealing that she had no creative influence and was dissatisfied with her performance skills. She did, however, co-write one song, "God Ain't Gotcha for That," on the album.

When rock producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange heard Twain's original songs and singing from her debut album, he offered to produce and write songs with her. They met at the Fan Fair in Nashville in June 1993 after many phone calls. Twain and Lange became close within a few weeks, culminating in their wedding on December 28, 1993. Lange and Twain either wrote or co-wrote the songs that would appear on her second studio album, "The Woman in Me."

The Woman in Me was released on February 7, 1995. Of the 12 tracks on the album, 8 of them were released as singles. "Whose Bed Has Your Boots Been Under," the album's first single, "Because Your Boots Been Under?" The No. 1 went to No. 2. Billboard Country Chart 11 on the Billboard Country Chart. "Any Man of Mine," her first Country Top ten and No.1 hit single, which also cracked the Billboard Hot 100, was followed by her debut on the Billboard Hot 100. Twain took further hits from the album, including the title track, which peaked at No. 14 and three additional No.1 hits: "If You're Not in It for Love" Twain had to leave it at No.14. "You Win My Love" and "No One Needs to Know" were two of the original soundtracks for the 1996 film Twister, which was the first for Twain. With new lyrics, a minor country hit "Home Ain't Where His Heart Is" and a re-recorded gospel version of the album track "God Bless the Child." Five of these singles are now outta here in Australia: "The Woman in Me": "I'm Outta Here!" "You Win My Love," "No One Needs to Know" and "God Bless the Child" were reimagined for the Australian pop market, with "I'm Outta Here." The breakthrough by Twain was a success, with the ARIA's No.5 placing at No. 5 on the ARIA charts.

The album had sold more than 12 million copies in the United States as of 2007, being rated Diamond by the Royal Academy of Music. The album was a quick success, and Twain's bass player Hugh McDonald (co-writer of the song "Butterfly Kisses"), Dan Schafer, Russ Taff, Bon Jovi's Breezy, Matthew Gibson, former Beach Boys bass player Stanley T. was a favorite international venue and television show, as well as Twain's Randy Thomas (co-writer of the song "Butterfly Kisses"), Randy Thomas (cadia's

Mercury Nashville's release of the album was largely based on a series of music videos, although every single from the album had a music video. Twain appeared on television shows including two performances on the Late Show with David Letterman, Blockbuster Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and the American Music Awards during this period. The Woman in Me was selected for both the Grammy Award for Best Country Album and the Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year, as well as the Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year; the latter group also named Twain as the Best New Female Vocalist.

Come On Over, Twain's 1997 debut, was released. It made her a hit crossover artist. 12 of the album's 16 songs were released as singles. Following the release of lead singles "Love Gets Me Every Time" and "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You), which allowed Twain to make more appearances in the Billboard Hot 100, the album began to sell. With the unveiling of "You're Still the One" as a third single, sales skyrocketed. "From This Moment On" "When," "Honey, I'm Home" "That Don't Impress Me Much" "Man": "From This Moment To."

I Feel Like a Woman!

"You've Got a Way," the title track on "Rock This Country" states. The other nine songs that saw singles debut are "I'm Holdin' On to Love (To Save My Life)" and "I'm Holdin' On to Love (To Save My Life)"; "To Save My Life" and "To Save My Life." All of the singles had accompanying music videos, with the exception of "I'm Holdin' On to Love." "From This Moment On" is a duet with singer Bryan White, and there was also a re-recorded solo pop version, which was used for its music video. The album reached its high point of No. 1. 2 joined Billboard 200 and stayed on the charts for the next two years, selling 40 million copies worldwide, making it the most popular song of all time by a female musician. She continued to defyne international boundaries for country music and female crossover artists. It's also the nation's ninth best-selling artist album and the top-selling country album in history. During this time, the album's songs earned four Grammy Awards, including Best Country Song and Best Female Country Performance (for "You're Still the One" and "Man!"
