Sergio León Limones (Spanish pronunciation: [sexjo len]; born 6 January 1989) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Valladolid as a forward.

He played more often at Reus before being signed by Elche in 2013. He was an academy graduate of Betis, where he mainly was a reserve. He rejoined Segunda División as the top scorer in the segment three years ago, before moving to La Liga Osasuna, where he also played for Betis and Levante, totaling 130 matches and 24 goals in five seasons.

Club career

León, a native of Palma del Rórdoba, joined Real Betis' youth ranks at the age of 15 and made his debut for the first team on March 27, 2010, playing 26 minutes in lieu of Juanma in a 1–0 Segunda División loss against Girona FC at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera. As the Verdiblancos failed to regain their La Liga status, it will be his first game of the season.

León left Betis and signed for CF Reus Deportiu in the Tercera División in the 2011 transfer window, after playing sparsion for the reserve for the past 1+12 seasons. He scored five goals in 14 games before the season ended, assisting the Catalans in their return to Segunda División B after a five-year absence.

During 2012-2013, León scored 18 times, with a hat-trick on February 17, 2013, beating Ontinyent CF 32-1.

León joined Elche CF for four years, being first assigned to their savings and then loaned to Real Murcia in the summer of 2013. After only three competitive appearances for the former, he was recalled by his parent club and is now playing and scoring for the B's regularly.

León was loaned to UE Llagostera, a second-tier team, for the forthcoming season on July 12, 2014. He scored his first professional goal on his second matchday, opening a 2–0 victory over CD Leganés in the team's first professional win. He eventually ranked as the top scorer on the Province of Girona, who came in ninth place.

León later returned to Elche and was promoted to the first team that had suffered from top-flight relegation for financial reasons. He made his competitive debut with the Valencians on August 23, 2015, losing 2–0 at SD Ponferradina and scoring his first goal against Bilbao Athletic in a match 2–1 against Bilbao Valero. In September 2015, he was the Segunda División Player of the Month, with three goals and an assist, and eventually took the Pichichi Trophy for top scorer, scoring his 22nd from the penalty spot against AD Alcorcorcón to defeat Florin Andone of Córdoba CF.

León signed a four-year deal with CA Osasuna on August 24, 2016 for an undisclosed fee. In a 2–0 home loss against Real Sociedad, he made his debut in the top division three days later, overtaking Oriol Riera. In a 2–1 loss to RCD Espanyol at the El Sadar Stadium on September 22, he scored his first goal in the tournament on September 22nd, to equalize.

León scored a brace in a 3–2 victory over SD Eibar on October 17, 2016. In a 2–1 home win over CD Leganés on April 9, he repeated the feat. He finished the season with a team-best ten goals, but his team was relegated.

León returned to Betis after agreeing to a four-year contract for a rumoured fee of €3.5 million. In his first season as coach of Loren, he was the club's top scorer with 11 goals, but he appeared less often in the second half of the season.

On June 12, 2019, León joined Levante UD on a three-year deal. He scored ten competitive goals in 59 games, five in the Copa del Rey's 2020-21 edition, mainly as a replacement during his reign.

León signed a one-year deal with Real Valladolid in the second division on August 31.
