Sean Yseult (born Shauna Reynolds; June 6, 1966) is an American rock musician.
She currently plays bass in the band Star & Dagger.
She has performed in various bands over the years, but is best known for playing bass in White Zombie.
Early life
Both her parents were college English professors. Ann Reynolds taught Geoffrey Chaucer's poetry, while her father, Michael South Reynolds, was an authority on Ernest Hemingway's life.
The family's house was bohemian, with musicians and scholars gathering for deep discourse and socializing. Yseult's parents took her and her sister to several cultural performances.
Yseult studied fine art and ballet while attending the North Carolina School of the Arts for high school.
Personal life
After White Zombie disbanded, Yseult migrated to New Orleans in 1996. In New Orleans, Louisiana, where she lives, she married Supagroup musician Chris Lee on January 12, 2008. The Saint, a dive bar that has gained a following among artists and musicians, was established and operated by actress Laura May in New Orleans' Garden District in 2002.
Music career
Yseult played bass in White Zombie for 11 years before they disbanded in 1998. In 1996, she appeared in the Ruined Eye tribute band to the Germs, along with Jay Yuenger. Yseult first began playing bass for the band Rock City Morgue in September 1998 after the breakup of White Zombie. In 1995, she formed the Famous Monsters, which also included Katie Lynn Campbell, bassist for the Toronto-based C'mon.
In 2006, Yseult briefly played bass for and toured with The Cramps.
I'm in the Band, a book that includes tour diaries and photos as well as detailing her eleven years as a member of White Zombie, was published on November 1, 2010.
"It was a little bit of a fuck you to me and J." Yseult wrote in the Rock N Roll Experience Magazine in 2011 when she asked him if she was interested in the White Zombie box, but it was a little strange because we were only 1/3rd's of the band but anyways."
Design and photography career
Yseult obtained her degree in graphic design from Parsons The New School for Design in New York City. In 2002, Yseult first began showing her photography in galleries. Yseult's hand drawn illustrations on wallpaper, pillows, and scarves began in 2006. Exhibitions have been held in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Yseult has also participated in the Rawk Show – Fine Art by Musicians – in Texas, among other exhibits.
