As Formula One's 2023 season begins, a cold streak for the United States will be snapped when Logan Sargeant stands up at the start. Since Alexander Rossi's arrival in 2015, the Florida native is expected to be the first American to complete a full season since Scott Speed all the way back in 2006. Over the past few seasons, F1 has seen a surge in popularity in the United States, but Sargeant's entry could propel the sport even higher in the United States' midst of tight competition from NASCAR and IndyCar.

Prospect Logan Sargeant has been on the radar ever since he was hired by Williams as a development agent. His progress in F2 piqued the interest, and now the youngster has earned his spot at the top of the table with Williams for the 2023 season. He'll be the first American to compete in an F1 championship since Alexander Rossi in 2015, and he's on track to become the first American to race a complete F1 calendar since Scott Speed in 2006. If he wins in a race, he'd be the first American to do so since 1978.

With over 440,000 fans descending on Austin, Texas, last weekend's United States Grand Prix was the most attended Formula One race of the season. With 420,000 spectators at Albert Park, the number exceeded the previous record at the Australian Grand Prix, which also broke its own attendance record this year. The attendance of COTA in the United States was a glimpse into what may be even bigger gains for the sport in the United States. There are more chances for American F1 fans to attend races than ever this year, with two races stateside and a third on the calendar next year.

How America has taken Formula One to NEXT level

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 18, 2022
In 2015, Formula 1 is for the die-hards who like to read the latest engineering magazine and find out what each team is doing differently each year.' It was hardly a ringing endorsement for one of the few American men to ever grace a Formula One grid. But it wasn't a million miles from the truth. IndyCar and NASCAR, by far the most popular, even to this day, motorsport in the United States, was proving difficult for a variety of reasons: a lack of American presence on the grid, a lack of on-ground presence for hosting races, and a concern of time difference, particularly on the west coast, made following practices, qualifying sessions, and races an afterthought for swing viewers. With three races on the 2023 calendar and a major push to land an American driver on the grid, we're now have Formula One fever.
