Scott Speed Life

Scott Andrew Speed (born January 24, 1983) is an American race car racer who competes in the Americas Rallycross Championship for Subaru Rally Team USA. When Speed made his debut at the 2006 Bahrain Grand Prix for Scuderia Toro Rosso, he became the first American driver to compete in Formula One since Michael Andretti in 1993.

He ran 28 races before being recalled midway through the 2007 season by Sebastian Vettel.

Speed later turned his passion towards stock racing, specifically NASCAR, where he competed for Team Red Bull, Whitney Motorsports, and Leavine Family Racing in the Sprint Cup Series.

He went into Global Rallycross with Andretti Autosport, winning the title in 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Speed revealed on November 1, 2018 that he would be joining Subaru Rally Team USA for the 2019 ARX season.

Early years

Speed's career began at ten years old in karting, his tenure there lasted from 1993 to 2001, winning the SKUSA Super Pro Pro Title for JM Racing driving a Tony Kart Swedetech Honda in 2000, winning the SKF Grand Nationals driving a 6-year-old kart, and three IKF regional titles. He also won the 2002 Rock Island GP in 125cc Shifter Karts. In 2001, he joined Formula Russell in the United States and became the champion. In 2002, he competed in both the Formula Dodge National Championship and Star Mazda, finishing third and eighth respectively.

After winning the Red Bull Driver Search program in 2003, Speed drove for Alan Docking Racing in the British Formula Three Championship. He became sick with ulcerative colitis, a form of inflammatory bowel disease, during that year and was forced to return to the United States for medical assistance.

Despite his worsening colitis, 2004 saw two national championship titles for Speed, with him winning in the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup and later Formula Renault 2000 Germany. His performances culminated in a move from Can Artam to the inaugural season of GP2 Series for 2005, as the second highest producer at iSport International. Speed was later promoted to the first driver for the team after he gained five podiums and 12 top 5 finishes in 24 races. Nico Rosberg and Heikki Kovalainen were ranked third in the drivers' championship standings on the season.

Speed rode the first three races of the latest A1 Grand Prix series in Portugal, achieving a best result of fourth in the Portugal feature series.

Logan Sargeant, the current F1 star, discusses how he doesn't feel any pressure to succeed

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 17, 2023
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Logan Sargeant, a Bahrain-based athlete, is gearing up for his second race in Saudi Arabia after getting off to a promising start. The former World Karting Champion and Carlin F2 champion has settled in well with the Grove-based outfit, scoring a P12 finish in his debut race. In addition, he defeated both rookies making their debuts for their teams this weekend - AlphaTauri's Nyck de Vries and longtime rival and McLaren driver Oscar Piastri.

Who is Logan Sargeant? With America's hopes on his shoulders, F1's next star will be released

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 4, 2023
As Formula One's 2023 season begins, a cold streak for the United States will be snapped when Logan Sargeant stands up at the start. Since Alexander Rossi's arrival in 2015, the Florida native is expected to be the first American to complete a full season since Scott Speed all the way back in 2006. Over the past few seasons, F1 has seen a surge in popularity in the United States, but Sargeant's entry could propel the sport even higher in the United States' midst of tight competition from NASCAR and IndyCar.

Last year, the 22-year-old finished fourth in a feeder series, and he is expected to compete in the Middle East in March as car No. 2 (see above). Williams, the nine-time champion-winning British motor racing team, takes the 2nd position. Sargeant competed in F2 for Rodin Carlin, another British motor racing team, and earned the competition's Rookie of the Year award.
