Scott Ferrall Career

Early career

Ferrall attended Mount Lebanon High School and then on to Indiana University.

In his home town of Pittsburgh, he began as a standard sports news reader on all-news KQV radio. When he left KQV, he migrated to Florida and began part-time radio work in the Tampa area. He became a sports host on Infinity Broadcasting Sports Network (now SB Nation Radio) in New York City, KNBR-AM in Los Angeles, and WCNN-AM in Atlanta, after a brief stint with the Sports Entertainment Network (now SB Nation Radio).

Ferrall gained a break on WNEW-FM by befriending Opie and Anthony and eventually taking over The Sports Guys talk show on WNEW-FM mornings, where it became Sports in the Morning with Ferrall. When they were barred from the airwaves for their "Sex for Sam 3" segment, he was fired from WNEW for helping Opie and Anthony. Ferrall left WNEW and spent mornings on Beasley Broadcasting Sports Station WQAM-AM (home of Neil Rogers), where his show was fined $55,000 by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Ferrall took the midday slot at the newly created Real Radio WMAX-FM (now WRDG) 105.3 Atlanta in January 2004 following his departure from WQAM. His time as "Atlanta's only FM talk station" didn't last until September 2004, when the station was converted to a Latin version.

Ferrall did radio shows on weekends for Fox Sports Radio for a time before heading to Sirius. Howard Stern revealed that Ferrall had joined Howard 101 on Sirius on February 9, 2006. Stern said he recruited Ferrall because he was deemed a top radio performer who had been mistreated unfairly by the company. After Ferrall badmouthed them on his website, Scott's joining Howard 101 resulted in a rivalry with former colleagues Opie and Anthony. This bad blood culminated in the nassance of Opie and Anthony's followers, 'The Pests' successfully hijacked Scott's radio show with prank calls for nearly two weeks. Ferrall's show aired on weekdays from 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Ferrall revealed on October 1, 2012, that he would be joining CBS Sports Radio Network on January 2, 2013. Stern appeared in some "best-of" clips of Ferrall on Saturday, and said he "would be missed" and was a "great guy" on the next day.

Since the network went to complete 24/7 broadcasting in 2013, Ferrall was on the 10 p.m. weekday slot at CBS Sports Radio. Ferrall on the Bench, his radio show, combined the sports news of the day with his outspoken opinions. CBS' last broadcast was on January 7, 2020.

Ferrall, a few days after leaving CBS Sports Radio, announced that he would appear on SportsGrid, a sports betting video subscription service, beginning January 29, 2020. Scott Ferrall: Coast to Coast (4-6 p.m. ET) has live pre-game wagering odds, moneylines, and statistics, as well as Ferrall's betting tips. In-Game Live (7-9 p.m.) includes live gaming. On SportsMap Radio Network, Ferrall's programs are also simulcast.
