Sascha Radetsky Life

Sascha Radetsky (born March 29, 1977) is a former soloist with the American Ballet Theatre, principal with the Dutch National Ballet, and actor.

Charlie appeared in the motion picture Center Stage and as Ross in the Starz miniseries Flesh and Bone.

In 2018, he was appointed artistic director of American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company.

Early life

Radetsky, a native of Santa Cruz, California, began learning ballet with Ayako Takahashi and Damara Bennett. He was invited to train at Moscow's Bolshoi Academy, Pyotr Pestov, and the Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C., under Roudolf Kharatian and Andrei Garbouz. Later, he worked on scholarship in the Summer sessions of the School of American Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre's School of Classical Ballet, and the San Francisco Ballet School.

Personal life

Career

Radetsky began attending American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 1995 and then became a member of the corps de ballet in 1996. Charlie appeared in the Nicholas Hytner directed film Center Stage in 2000 and appeared in the Mandy Moore musical film I Want to Be With You from the movie's soundtrack. In 2003, he was promoted to soloist with ABT.

Radetsky performed leading roles in George Balanchine, Mark Morris, Paul Taylor, Lar Lubovitch, Kenneth MacMillan, Twyla Tharp, Antony Tudor, Twyla Tharp, Antony Tudor, Jorma Elo, Jorma Elo, Christopher Wheeldon, and Ji Kylian. In The Bright Stream, the third movement in Bruch Violin Concerto No. 3, he included Head Fakir in La Bayadère, Accordionist. Lankendem and Birbanto in Le Corsaire, Espada, and the lead gypsy in The Dream, the second and third sailor in Fancy Free, Hilarion, and the peasant pas de deux in Giselle, Prince Igor and Richard's The Real Estate, Benno and Rose, the fourth movement in Symphony in C, Hortensio, namely B.'s Pas de Deux (Close to You), He created the Arabian Man in Alexei Ratmansky's The Nutcracker and his leading roles in From Here On Out, Troika, and Thirteen Diversions. In addition, he was an original member of "Stiefel and Stars" and a regular guest performer with ballet companies around the country and abroad.

He left American Ballet Theatre in September 2008 to join the Dutch National Ballet as a principal dancer, where his repertoire included Albrecht in Giselle and Masetto in Don Giovanni. He returned to American Ballet Theatre as a soloist on January 1, 2010 and then resigned in July 2014. In the ballet Coppelia's farewell appearance, Radetsky performed as Franz alongside Xiomara Reyes.

Later career

Radetsky has appeared in Flesh and Bone, a Hallmark Channel film, as Ross, and in Center Stage: On Pointe, where he reprised his role as Charlie. Radetsky was appointed director of the American Ballet Theatre/New York University Master's Degree Program in Ballet Pedagogy and a Company Lecture for ABT itself in 2016, following a fellowship at The Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU. He's going to be one of American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company's ballet masters next year. He was named artistic director of American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company in 2018, taking over from long-serving artistic director Kate Lydon, who spent 15 years in the role.
