Sarah Parish (born 7 June 1968) is a British actress.

She is best known for her appearances on television shows including: The Pillars of the Earth, Peak Performance, Hearts and Bones, Cutting It, Doctor Who, Mistresses, Merlin, Atlantis, Trollied, and W1A.

Early life

Bill and Thelma Parish was born in Yeovil, Somerset; she has a sister, Julie, and a brother, musician John Parish. She was educated at the Preston School and Yeovil College in Preston, England. She began acting at an early age and claims she made her first stage appearance in a pantomime in Tintinhull, where she was performing the pearl in an oyster. She then attended Yeovil Youth Theatre.

Personal life

In Hampshire, James Murray was married on December 15, 2007. Due to Parish's 40th birthday, she was announced in January 2008 that she was pregnant with their first child. Ella-Jayne's daughter died in 2009 after being born with Rubinstein–Taybi syndrome. Parish and Murray, along with Parish and Murray, raised funds for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Southampton General Hospital in her memory. As of December 2019, the PICU had raised £5.2 million for the PICU. Nell, their second daughter, was born on November 21, 2009.

When asked about her hobbies and passions, Parish cites her vegetable garden.

On March 2, 2018, Parish suffered a leg break when sledging in the snow. "Note to self: cheap plastic sledges are for sitting and gently trundling down primary slopes, not a substitute for a stand-up snowboard," she said.

Parish and James Nesbitt appeared in ITV's medical drama Monroe in 2011. Pasipha, a female actor who appeared in BBC television series Atlantis from 2013 to 2015. Anna Rampton appeared in three episodes of the BBC TV comedy W1A from 2014 to 2017. In Sky One's sitcom Trollied, Cheryl Fairweather has been portrayed since November 2015.

In December 2017, she appeared in the ITV miniseries Bancroft as Supt Elizabeth Bancroft. In January 2020, the second series was broadcast on PBS.

Melissa, the girlfriend of Nigel Havers' character Larry, appeared in The Cockfields in December 2019. She debuted in the HBO/BBC drama the following year. In December 2021, Lorraine was featured on Netflix's original Stay Close as Lorraine.

She has often co-starred opposite David Tennant in the 2004 musical serial Blackpool; the Tony Marchant drama Recover; the 2006 Doctor Who Christmas special episode, "The Runaway Bride"; and the 2017 film You, Me and Him. "We're like George and Mildred," she has joked, "We're like George and Mildred – in 20 years' time, we'll probably be doing a ropey old sitcom in a terraced house in Preston."
