Sam Trammell (born January 29, 1969) is an American actor best known for his role as Sam Merlotte on HBO's fantasy drama series True Blood.

Trammell was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and he was raised in Charleston, West Virginia. He attended Brown University, graduating in 1991.
