Saia Fainga'a Life

Saia Fainga'a (born 2 February 1987) is an Australian professional rugby union footballer who plays for the London Irish in the English Premiership.

Family and early life

Saia Fainga was born in Queanbeyan, New South Wales, and she began playing rugby union at the age of 11 or 12 at the Queanbeyan club. He was a member of the Brumbies Academy from the age of 14 and attended St Edmund's College, Canberra, where he was selected for the Australian Schools team in 2003 and 2004.

Anthony, Saia's twin brother, and younger brothers Vili and Colby are also active rugby union players. The Fainga's are of Tongan English and Italian descent.

Saia Fainga'a Career

Career

Fainga's first appearance in the Super 14 in 2006. Due to injuries in the squad, he was able to play for the Brumbies against the Stormers in Cape Town, and he played his first senior match for the Brumbies. He captained the Australian Under 19s team to victory the IRB World Championship in Dubai later this year. Fainga'a went on to win 27 super rugby caps at the Brumbies from 2006 to 2008. Saia and his twin brother Anthony joined the Queensland Reds in 2008 to play in the 2009 season. In 2010, he made his Test debut for Australia against Fiji in Canberra. He appeared in all 18 games of the Reds 2011 Super Rugby championship winning season, as well as his brother Anthony, who was selected with the Wallabies squad in New Zealand for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, where Australia finished third place.

After signing for newly promoted Premiership side London Irish, it was announced on June 2nd that he would return to England. He was unveiled in the 2020-2021 season.
