Saadat Hasan Manto Life

Saadat Hasan Manto (born in Ludhiana, British Raj) is a British Indian in the United Kingdom.

He wrote mainly in Urdu, and he produced 22 collections of short stories, a novel, five series of radio plays, three collections of essays, and two collections of personal sketches.

Writers and commentators alike regard his best short stories.

Manto was known to write about the ugly truths of life that no one dared to write about.

He is best known for his accounts of India's partition, which he condemned right away after independence in 1947; thrice before 1947 in British India; and thrice after independence in Pakistan, but never found him guilty.

He has been dubbed one of the best twentieth century Urdu writers, and he is the subject of two biographical films, Manto, directed by Sarmad Khoosat, and Nandita Das' 2018 film Manto.

Personal life

Manto married Safia Begum on April 26, 1939. In April 1941 in Delhi, their first child, Arif, died at a young age. They had three children: Nighat Manto, Nuzhat Manto, and Nusrat Manto. Nighat Bashir, his daughter, lives in Beadon Road, where Manto breathed his last.
