Rogelio Miret Gonzalez, born June 30, 1964), is the vocalist for New York Hardcore band Agnostic Front, street punk group Roger Miret and the Disasters, as well as the hardcore band The Alligators. Agnostic Front is one of New York's most popular hardcore bands.
Personal life
Miret was born in Havana, Cuba. Freddy Cricien's older half-brother. Both children have the same mother, who is of Cuban descent, and different fathers, which explains the different last names. Miret and his family escaped Cuba to flee the Castro regime. They came from the United States in 1968 and settled in New York.
Miret was arrested on a heroin charge in the late 1980s and spent almost two years in jail. He said he became involved in it because he was homeless, squatting buildings, and his then-partner was pregnant in a 2011 interview. He began supporting PETA campaigns, as well as other non-profit groups, and followed a vegetarian diet for many years after being posted.
Except for the occasional drink, he does not smoke and does not use recreational drugs anymore.
Miret revealed in September 2021 that he had been diagnosed with cancer earlier in 2021. The cancer had been in remission after a long hospital stay and surgery, but not before. Miret's medical bills were paid for by a GoFundMe page.
