The Indianapolis 500 was part of the FIA World Championship from 1950 through 1960. Drivers competing at Indy during those years were credited with World Championship points and participation. Rodger Ward participated in 12 World Championship races, including 10 starts at Indy along with the 1959 United States Grand Prix and the 1963 United States Grand Prix. The six-episode limited series includes a fictionalized version of the opioid crisis that gripped the United States and the Sackler family, who owned Purdue Pharma. Painkiller's designers turned the common legal disclaimer viewer turned upside down by encouraging families of those who died to the drug to share their stories, so it didn't appear that they were letting Big Pharma executives 'off the hook' by including the usual caveat. Jennifer Trejo-Adams was one of the people who gave Painkiller's moving testimonials. Christopher is a young girl from the University of Florida who died after being addicted to OxyContin when he was 15 years old.
