Robert Anderson Huebel (born June 4, 1969) is an American actor, comedian, and writer best known for his sketch comedy appearances on the MTV series Human Giant and as Dr. Jeremy Huebel.

Owen Maestro of Children's Hospital is the author of an Adult Swim collection.

On the Amazon series Transparent, he appeared as Len Novak.

Early life

Huebel was born in Alexandria, Virginia, the son of Louisa and Jared Huebel. He attended Annandale High School in Annandale, Virginia, before studying marketing in the hopes of working in advertising at Clemson University. He subsequently travelled to New York and began studying improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York.

Personal life

Huebel is married to Holly Hannula. Holden, their daughter, was born in 2016. She was born premature at 26 weeks and spent the first 117 days of her life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Career

Huebel began improvising when he was 27 by attending classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City.

On shows such as Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Upright Citizens Brigade, he appeared as a sketch actor on late nights. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work as a producer on Michael Moore's Bravo show The Awful Truth. He appeared on The Daily Show as a segment producer with Jon Stewart.

Huebel appeared on the VH1 show Best Week Ever during the 2004 election as part of the NetZero "Candidate Zero" campaign. He also appeared on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm and Fox's Arrested Development.

Rob Riggle's comedy partner, the pair also appeared with Respecto Montalban and at the Upright Citizens Brigade. In the film Super High Me, Huebel and Riggle did a comedy bit. Kung-Fu Grip, the long-running two-man show at UCB, was one of their best known performances at the 2004 HBO Comedy Arts Festival. Huebel appeared in the film Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story as Sam Brown, Corddry, Scheer, and Riggle.

In the MTV sketch comedy film Human Giant, Huebel and fellow comedians Aziz Ansari and Paul Scheer are writers, actors, and executive producers. Samir from "The Shutterbugs" and T.C. are two of Huebel's characters from the series. Everwood from "Clell Tickle" has appeared on "Clell Tickle." In the 30 Rock episode "MILF Island," he appeared as Holly's boyfriend A.J. In three episodes of The Office, Susan Tobin appears. In the 2009 comedy I Love You, Man, Tevin played Tevin. He also co-starred in Children's Hospital with Rob Corddry.

Huebel continues to appear at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles on a daily basis. He co-hosts "Crash Test" with Paul Scheer twice a month, as well as host "The Shit Show," in which he gathers comedian friends and other well-known celebrities to perform the worst scenes in films, television, and commercials ever done.

Huebel has written and performed in several filmed sketches for HBO's sketch comedy show Funny or Die Presents. On Comedy Central in November 2010, he appeared on The Benson Interruption.

Huebel appeared in the films The Other Guys (2010), Life as We Know It, Little Fockers, Despicable Me, and The Descendants. In February 2011, he was cast as a lead in the Fox sitcom pilot Family Album, and as Glen Whipple in ABC's "The One That Got Away," he appeared in the episode "The One That Got Away." Len Novak appeared in a recurring role on Amazon Studios' Transparent, where he appeared as Len Novak.

On the comedy podcast Comedy Bang! Huebel appears on a regular basis.
