Pensioners in final salary plans were pushed out of £18 billion

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 8, 2022
In so-called buyout agreements, UK companies have offloaded their pension schemes to giant insurance companies, causing the issue. Pensioners' discretionary rights are often violated during these negotiations, behind closed doors. Once a pension fund is in the custody of an insurer, it is no longer looked after by a group of pension trustees with a legal responsibility to act in the interests of its members. Rather, the insurance company is simply responsible for overseeing the monthly pension fund payments and has no obligation to provide additional assistance to members in difficult financial conditions.

Serena Williams' 'goodby' match at the US Open is watched by Hugh Jackman, Mike Tyson, and Bill Clinton

Hugh Jackman, Mike Tyson, and Bill Clinton are among those expected to attend Serena Williams' big night at the US Open in New York. Williams has already stated her desire to 'evolve' away from tennis (don't say'retirement') after this year's US Open, she could very well be playing in her last game in Queens against Montenegro's Danka Kovinic. And if it's her last match, Williams may not have chosen a better location than downtown Flushing, where she has won six singles titles and a pair of doubles crowns in front of New York celebrities.
