Ricardo Larrivée Life

Ricardo Larrivée (born 1967) is a television presenter and a food writer who lives in Quebec, Canada. He is also known as Rigo the Mononym Ricardo.

He hosts Ricardo on Radio-Canada and previously hosted Ricardo and Friends, a food network Canada show.

Early life and education

Larrivée enrolled in the Institut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ), a hospitality school in Quebec, where he concentrated on hotel management. He studied Ottawa's communications.

Career

Larrivée went to Regina, Saskatchewan, and accepted a job as a technician with Radio-Canada. He made both simple and elaborate dishes in his spare time and established a reputation as a good cook. He was recruited to host a food show on Radio-Canada. Nevertheless, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was facing layoffs, but Larrivée was one of those who were fired.

Larrivée returned to Montreal and had the opportunity to showcase his recipes while working as a food reporter for television, radio, and newspapers. In addition to appearing on Saisons de Clodine on the TVA television network, he appeared on numerous television shows, including Menu à la carte, Pêché mignon, Secrets de famille, Indicatif présent, Christiane Charrette, and Beau temps pour s'étendre at Radio-Canada. He also wrote a column in the daily newspaper La Presse's lifestyle section, and he continues to be a regular collaborator in the Saturday edition.

Larrivée produced Ricardo, a new television show shot in his home kitchen in Chambly, Quebec, in 2002. He also started publishing a magazine at the same time. This show became Canada's longest-running cooking competition. Rigo and Friends first appeared on Food Network in 2006 and lasted for three years. The cooking show on his website employs about 125 people and is seen in about 160 countries.

Larrivée and his partner, Brigitte Coutu, run a Saint-Lambert business, where recipes are tested and the magazines are published. He has written many books over the years. Since 2009, he also has his own website.

Larrivée was elected a Member of the Order of Canada in 2014. Ricardo opened a new headquarters in a Montreal suburb last year. Café Ricardo, he's owned a restaurant in the greater Montreal area since 2016, which will eventually grow to three cafés.
