Rey Bucanero Life

Arturo Garca Ortiz (born July 19, 1974) is a Mexican luchador or professional wrestler best known under the ring name Rey Bucanero.

Ortiz, also known as Rey Bucanero, has been with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) since 1996.

The ring name of "Buccaneer King" in Spanish is originally used in his mask, which included a skull face and an eye patch.

Ortiz was first detected in 1999 and hasn't been caught on any since. He is the nephew of Pirata Morgan, from whom he took the Pirate name, as well as the nephew of Hombre Bala and El Verdungo.

Although he has predominantly worked for CMLL, he has appeared in the United States, most notably for the World Wrestling Federation and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, as well as in Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). In 2001, Rey Bucanero, Manuel Guerrero, and Tarzan Boy were the founders of the long-running Los Guerreros del Infierno ("The Infernal Warriors") group.

Bucanero retired from the group to become a member of La Peste Negra later on, and with El Terrible and El Rey, "The Real King" (with El Terrible and Shocker), TGR (Terribly Handsome King) was later discovered.

Rey Bucanero and ltimo Guerrero's tag team assembled a large and profitable tag team in the first decade of the 21st century, winning the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards as "Best Tag Team of the Decade (2000–2009)" in the first decade. On two occasions, he was the CMLL World Tag Team Championship's Grand Champion and the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship, as well as the CMLL World Trios Championship.

He has also won the CMLL Torneo Gran Alternativa and Leyenda de Azul tournaments.

Personal life

Arturo Garca Ortiz was born in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, on July 19, 1974, and the Ortiz family, which would later have several family members become professional wrestlers. Three of Ortiz' uncles were professional wrestlers, and he was often taken to wrestling shows as a youth. He is the nephew of Aurelio Ortiz (better known as Hombre Bala and later "The Monsther"), Pedro Ortiz (better known as Pirata Morgan) and Francisco Ortiz (best known as "El Verdungo"), all of whom inspired him to become a wrestler and trained Garca for his in-ring career. Garca is the cousin of professional wrestlers El Hijo de Pirata Morgan (Antheus Ortiz Chávez), Pirata Morgan Jr. (real name not revealed), Hombre Bala Jr. (actual name not revealed), and the most recent wrestler to work as "The Monsther" (not revealed).

When Garca's parents divorced, he moved in with his uncle Pedro Ortiz. From that point on his uncle's ride to Arena México, home of Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre (EMLL), for whom Ortiz worked at the time. He'll be introduced to the other side of professional wrestling since being trained from a young age by all three of his uncles, but not completely backstage.

Rey Bucanero Career

Professional wrestling career

Ortiz made his in-ring debut on November 18, 1991, as the wrestling masked character "Rey Bucanero Jr. ("Buccaneer King Jr." If there was a wrestler identified as "Rey Bucanero," the facts are uncertain. From 1991 to 1994, he appeared as "Rey Bucanero Jr." in Puebla City and other smaller venues. In 1995, he briefly appeared on "El Hijo Morgan" and "Pirata Morgan Jr.," but those names were not long, and he did not stay long enough to follow in his uncle Pedro Ortiz's footsteps when they became older and wanted to wrestle as Pirata Morgan Jr. and El Hijo de Pirata Morgan Jr.

In 1995, he shortened his ring name to simply "Rey Bucanero." When the promotion teamed him up with Emilio Charles Jr. in 1996 for the 1996 Gran Alternativa tournament, the pair triumphed over Héctor Garza and Mr. Niebla in the finals, it was the first hint that CMLL had faith in the Rey Bucanero character. El Satánico welcomed the three youngsters together, defeating Apolo Dantés, Black Warrior, and Dr. Wagner Jr. in a tournament for the vacant CMLL World Trios Championship. Their reign lasted only 39 days after losing the championship to Atlantis, Lizmark, and Mr. Niebla on April 29, 1997.

Ortiz was one of many Mexican wrestlers to begin working for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now known as WWE), and WWF's attempt to expand into Latin American markets in late 1998. Rey "Pirata" Ortiz, a ring name on Super Astros Ortiz, was a wrestler who wrestled without his mask on. He later stated that he wished the WWF had more reverence for the mask but that a paycheck was a paycheck, so he did not complain about it. In early 1999, he began working on Super Astros.

Rey Bucanero, one of eight participants in a Ruleta de la Muerte ("Roulette of death") or "Losers advance" tournament, a month after he returned to CMLL full-time. Rey Bucanero defeated Shocker in the finals, with both wrestlers putting their masks on the line under Lucha de Apuestas. Rules: "Bet match" or "bet match." In the end, Shocker pinned Rey Bucanero, causing Bucanero to take his mask off and never wear it again.

El Satánico reformed the Los Infernales in 1999, retroing timo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero; Rey's uncle Pirata Morgan was one of the original Los Infernales. Both Rey Bucanero and ltimo Guerrero's careers saw them rise to the top of the charts as well as develop into a regular tag team in CMLL. El Satánico, a veteran, has allowed them to rise to the top of the ranks as well as develop into a regular tag team. One of sixteen teams registered in the 2000 Summer of Bucanero and Guerrero was one of sixteen teams competing in the vacant CMLL World Tag Team Championship. In the end, the team defeated Villano IV and Mr. Niebla to win the championship.

El Satánico had been involved in the development of both Bucanero and ltimo Guerrero against El Satánico during the summer of 2000. Bucanero, Guerrero, and Tarzan Boy all said they deserved the name Los Infernales and that El Satánico was holding them back. El Satánico's storyline turned wrestler Rencor Latino into Averno (Spanish for "Hell") and turned the Astro Rey Jr. into Mephisto, which was displayed on television.

When Tarzan Boy was wounded and unable to fight Bucanero and Guerrero, Máscara Mágica was recruited to even the numbers. At the 68th Anniversary Show, where all seven wrestlers faced off in a steel cage match, the storyline between the two groups hits its high point. The match was stipulated that the winning team would have the right to use the name Los Infernales, but the loser on the other hand would be compelled to unmask or have their hair shaved off. El Satánico pinned Máscara Mágica in the end, causing him to unmask. After losing the match Guerrero, Bucanero, and Tarzan Boy, Los Guerreros del Infierno (The Infernal Soldiers), the team was officially named Los Guerreros del Infierno (The Infernal Soldiers).

Following the feud with El Satánico over Bucanero and Guerrero, we went back to a storyline feud with Negro Casas and El Hijo del Santo over the CMLL World Tag Team Championships. Los Guerreros lost to Santo and Casas on November 2, 2011 after an inconclusive finish in October. Guerrero and Bucanero regained their tag team title from Santo and Casas in 2002. On May 31, the women defeated them to become three-time champions, the three-time champions. In July, the team successfully defended their title against Damián 666 and Halloween of La Familia de Tijuana. Los Guerreros del Infierno's del Infierno also feuded with Valiant Canadiense and Shocker. Los Guerreros defended their tag team title against the duo, but Bucanero lost his hair to Vampiro in a Luchas de Apuestas match in December.

They defended the championship against Valiant and Lizmark, Jr., and Negro Casas and Perro Aguiro, Jr. in 2003, but they were defeated in December by the team of Shocker and the newly arrived L.A. Park. In early 2004, Los Guerreros regained the tag team championship, but Bucanero sustained a knee injury and was briefly suspended by Black Warrior. On June 25, Los Guerreros lost the tag team championship to Atlantis and Blue Panther. On the first Arena México show of 2005, Bucanero and new Los Guerreros member Olmpico challenged Atlantis and Panther for the tag team championship, but they were disqualified when Olmpico broke his neck while attempting a dive.

Bucanero and Olmpico met up in the IWGP World Tag Team Championship, beating Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shinsuke Nakamura. Bucanero would have broken up with Guerrero after Atlantis' heel and joined the army, but Los Guerreros del Atlántida's Perro Ayo, Jr., and Los Guerreros de la Atlántida feuded with Perro Ayo Jr.'s Los Perro del Mal faction fought with Perro Aguida. In the main event of the 50s, he teamed with Tarzan Boy to win a double hair vs. hair tournament against Mr. guila and Damián 666. Aniversario de Arena México deduces.

He partnered with Atlantis against ltimo Dragón and Keiji Mutoh last week, but his team was cut short when Atlantis struck Rey Bucanero by accident. Bucanero continued having problems with his teammates and journals, and a potential face turn was speculated at. Averno and Mephisto turned on him later this month in an Arena México match. Tarzan Boy and Guerrero joined him shortly after, ripping his tights, implying that he was no longer a Los Guerreros fan.

Guerrero was defeated for his CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship on July 14, snapping Guerrero's three-and-a-half tenure. He and Kenzo Suzuki and ltimo Guerrero later feuded. Bucanero competed in the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's World X Cup in 2008 as a member of Team Mexico, which went on to win the entire tournament. Bucanero del Atlantida, a young boy who died in early 2010 was back to Los Guerreros del Atlantida.

Rey Bucanero filled in for Mr. Niebla while he was out with a knee injury and joined La Peste Negra ("The Black Plague") members Negro Casas and El Felino in July and August 2010. When he began working with La Peste Negra Bucanero, he wore ring gear that looked more like Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie film series than than those of his fellow Guerreros de la Atlantida members. He was also given a mascot, a Mini-Estrella dressed in a parrot outfit that accompanied him to the ring. The parrot was later identified Zacarias.

Rey Bucanero said in August 2010 that he had left Los Guerreros and joined La Peste Negra because Los Guerreros were more interested in working with Olmpico than him. Mr. guila defeated Los Invasores leader Mr. guila in a Lucha de Apuesta match on December 3rd, requiring Mr. guila to have his orange mohawk shaved off. Bucanero made an appearance for American promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), during the WrestleReunion 5 weekend in a match in which he was defeated by Mr. guila.

Bucanero left La Peste Negra in April 2011 to form a new group with El Texano Jr. and El Terrible, leaving Zacarias in the process. The group was named La Fuerza TRT in the following month. Bucanero defeated El Hijo del Fantasma to win the NWA World Historic Light Heavyweight Championship on June 21. Bucanero and Atlantis made an appearance in American promotion Chikara on July 31, 2011, losing to F.I.T. "Mates In Similar Tights"; Chuck Taylor and Johnny Gargano) Disqualification; when Gargano faked being denied a low blow from Atlantis, he mistook him for disqualification.

Bucanero competed in a ten-man hair vs. hair steel cage match at CMLL's 78th Anniversary Show on September 30, which came down to Bucanero and former Peste Negra partner El Felino. El Felino pinned Bucanero down at the end, causing Bucanero to have all his hair shaven off. Bucanero became one of four CMLL wrestlers featured in An A&E Latinoamericano documentary film titled El Luchador in October 2011. Bucanero and El Terrible selected Tiger as the new third member of La Fuerza TRT when El Texano, Jr. left CMLL in late November.

Bucanero's almost two-year tenure as the NWA World Historic Light Heavyweight Champion came to an end on June 4, 2013 when he lost the title to Diamante Azul. Tiger was robbed by Bucanero and Terrible on August 11, and he was replaced with Vangelis. The stable was renamed TRT: The Machine of Destruction," after Vangelis' joining the company; "TRT: The Machine of Destruction"). Bucanero was on tour with New Japan Pro-Wrestling on September 14, when Tama Tonga won the CMLL World Tag Team Championship with Tama Tonga. Bucanero's time with NJPW ended on September 29, and El Terrible's Bucanero, Bucanero, and Tonga all worked with El Terrible as "Bullet Club Latinoamerica."

Bucanero suffered with an injury on October 18, and both he and Tonga were barred from the CMLL World Tag Team Championship. Bucanero defeated La Sombra in a tournament final on March 8, 2015, winning the NWA World Historic Light Heavyweight Championship for the second time. Bucanero, El Terrible, and Shocker formed TGR (Terriblement Guapo el Rey, "Unique King") on April 3 ("Terribly Handsome King").
