Rémy Girard (born August 10, 1950) is a Canadian actor and former television host from Quebec.
Acting career
In the Canadian film The Barbarian Invasions (Les Invasions barbares), Girard played Rémy, the central character who is dying of terminal cancer. The 2003 Academy Award for best foreign picture was given to this film. The Decline of the American Empire, Arcand's earlier film The Decline of the American Empire (Le Déclin de l'empire américain), revolved around the same characters who appeared in Les Invasions barbares 17 years later. Girard appeared in Arcand's 1989 film Jesus of Montreal (Jésus de Montréal).
Girard has been named as the most highly coveted actor in the Genie Awards' history.
