Priscilla Marie Pointer (born May 18,1924) is an American stage, film, and television actress.
She began working in theater, as well as Broadway performances.

Personal life
Pointer was born in New York City. Augusta Leonora (née Davis) was an artist and an illustrator, and her father, Kenneth Keith Pointer, was an artist and an illustrator. Jacob Barrett Cohen, one of her maternal great-grandfathers, was from a Jewish family that had lived in the United States since the 1700s.
Pointer was married to film and stage producer Jules Irving, the Lincoln Center's former artistic director from 1947 to 1979; they are Katie Irving, producer David Irving, and actress Amy Irving. She married actor/producer Robert Symonds, who had been Jules Irving's production partner at Lincoln Center in 1980. She appeared on stage with Symonds several times, and the two were married until the latter's death in 2007.
Career
Pointer has appeared in many films, including Carrie (1976), in which she appeared as the on-screen mother of Amy Irving's character; A Nightmare on Elm Street (1979): Dream Warriors (1991); and Coyote Moon (1999). In comparison to Carrie, she has appeared onscreen with Amy Irving in Honeysuckle Rose (1980) and Carried Away (1996). They appeared in the films The Competition in 1980 and Micki & Maude in 1984.
Pointer appeared in three films directed by her son David Irving: Rumpelstiltskin (a 1987 film version in which her daughter appeared in), Good-bye, Cruel World, and C.H.U.D. Bud the C.H.U.D. II.
Adrienne Harris Rainey (1972–1973) was Pointer's first acting television role on Where the Heart Is. She has appeared on television as Adam-12, Los Angeles, The A-Team, Judging Amy, The Rockford Files, and Cold Case.
