Prateek Kuhad is an Indian singer-songwriter and a performer who performs experimental music.

In Tokens and Charms, his debut album on record, has received international attention. Kuhad grew up in Jaipur before relocating to the United States for college.

He returned to India after graduating, releasing two EPs before launching his debut album. Kuhad received an MTV Europe Music Award, Indie Album of the Year Awards from iTunes, Best Pop Artist at the Radio City Freedom Awards, and first place in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition.

Kuhad was soon touring around the world with sold-out headline dates, as did arena support slots with Alt-J and Mike Posner, as well as arena support slots, and before that, Kuhad was performing everywhere.

When he landed in Austin for the first time, NPR selected him as an artist to watch among the thousands on display at SXSW.

Early life and career

Kuhad was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and has two sisters. He learned to play the guitar at the age of 16 and began songwriting in his late teens. He completed his high school from Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Vidyalaya, Jaipur. He studied Mathematics and Economics at New York University before heading to Delhi to pursue a full-time career in music. After graduating from New York University, he returned to India, releasing two EPs before releasing his debut album. Cutcraft Music, a Los Angeles-based company, has also signed a publishing contract. In 2020, Kuhad became the first Indian to be signed by Elektra Records, an American record company.
