Phil Pfister Life

Phil Pfister (born May 15, 1971) is an American former strongman champion who won the 2006 Met-Rx World's Best Man Competition and the $41,000 grand prize in Sanya, China, beating the previous recorder.

In 1982, Bill Kazmaier became the first American to win after that man was the first American to win since Bill Kazmaier.

Pfister is 6 ft (6.98 m) and weighs 375 pounds (170 kg). Pfister's previous best finishes in the World's Strongest Man were fourth in 1998 in Tangier, and fourth in 2001 in Victoria Falls, Pfister's second best finish in the World's Strongest Man were fourth place in 1998.

Pfister placed fourth in both 2007 and 2008 WSM championships, and ninth in 2009.

Magnus Samuelsson from Sweden, Janne Virtanen from Finland, and Svend Karlsen from Norway finished in the finals, setting two qualifier records in the Hercules Hold and in the Atlas Stones, but he was unable to progress to the finals against the Scandinavian opponents.

Pfister also placed third in the Arnold Strongman Classic in 2002, when he came third. Pfister has been retiring after the 2009 Olympics, and he currently appears on ESPN2 as part of the World's Best Man competition.

Personal life

Pfister served as a firefighter and now resides in Charleston, West Virginia, with his son Wyatt. He appeared in the 2005 film The Protector, starring Tony Jaa as one of Fortune Teller's henchmen. He also appeared on Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? On April 17, 2008, I won $25,000, as well as an appearance on an episode of Airline.
