Early life and education

Rowsthorn attended Trinity Grammar School and Rusden College, which is now part of Deakin University, where he obtained a teaching degree and worked as a drama coach before embarking on stage for his show business work.

Personal life

Rowsthorn has volunteered with many charities and community organizations, including Oxfam.

Rowsthorn has appeared on Thank God You're Here, Celebrity Name Game, 'Bout Your Generation, Studio 10, Show Me the Movie!' We Have a Problem, Mr. Hughesy, We have a problem.

Rowsthorn performed as part of the comedy and singing duo The Cactus Brothers in 1983 while studying for his degree.

On The Comedy Company (1989), he first came to fame as a stand-up comedian and as a writer and performer. Rowsthorn appeared in The Gift (1996), was a lead in the Australian children's television show The Gift (1997), appeared in Bad Eggs and Take Away (both 2003) and played a dashing hairdresser named 'Miss Kafka' in the Sigrid Thornton film Little Oberon (2005).

He is perhaps best known for his television work, especially as Brett Craig in the hit series Kath & Kim (2002–2007) and 2012 film, Kath & Kimderella. Warren Cronkshonk in a hospital spoof Let the Blood Run Free (1990–1992). Rowsthorn appeared on ABC TV from 2006 to 2011.

Rowsthorn was unveiled as a celebrity contestant on the fourth season of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Rowsthorn was evicted after 40 days in the jungle, ending in 6th place on March 7, 2018.
