Pete Shelley (born Peter Campbell McNeish, 1955 - December 6, 2018) was an English singer, songwriter, and guitarist.
He formed early punk band Buzzcocks with Howard Devoto in 1976 and became the lead singer and guitarist in 1977, before Devoto left.
In 1978, the group released "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't Have)" a hit.
It was established in 1981 and revived at the end of the decade.
Shelley was also a solo performer; his album "Homosapien" debuted in the United States in 1981.
Personal life and death
He was married in 1991 and divorced in 2002. In 1993, his son was born. Shelley continued to identify as bisexual in later life, though Steve Diggle has stated that Shelley's youthful same sex encounters were "a hazard," according to Steve Diggle.
Shelley and his second wife, Greta, an Estonian, moved from Tallinn, Estonia, to London, where he had lived for nearly three decades. On the morning of 6 December 2018, he died as a result of a suspected heart attack. Gary McNeish, his brother, announced his death on Facebook.
