Paul De Leeuw Life

Paul Henri de Leeuw (born 26 March 1962) is a Dutch television comedian, singer, and actor. With television shows for broadcasting firm VARA, De Leeuw gained national recognition in the late eighties and early nineties.

Despite the fact that satire was only a part of these shows and a portion of its humour was essentially harmless, he soon became known for his satire of Dutch show business personalities, who were often mocked.

Many obscure musical acts were included in his shows, some of which gained national recognition after being involved in De Leeuw's performance (e.g. Twarres and René Klijn, a former boyband member who contracted HIV, is the subject of a public health warning. (Remember what they say about twarres and René Klijn, a former boyband member who contracted HIV).

Since being interrupted only by a few days, VARA has continued his shows, often with a lot of success. De Leeuw held a few shows in the early nineties to celebrate the new year.

He mocked the new commercial television station RTL 5 by announcing another new station, "RTL 6," satisfieing beter dan niks [lit.

RTL six, better than nothing] (RTL6)).

RTL Corporation founder De Leeuw's ostensible joke resulted in a lawsuit. Stephan Nugter and his son Kas (adopted in October 2001) and Tobey (adopted in December 2002) have adopted two children. Many hit singles have appeared in the Netherlands, including De Leeuw.

He is best known for: Vlieg met me (#2), Ik wil niet die t wil niet wil wil niet et tien niet / Waarvoor (#1), and 'K Heb je lief (#3).

He has released albums and singles since his time on television and singing, often becoming a huge hit. On Koninginnedag 2007, he was appointed a Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion.
