Paul Dini (born August 7, 1957) is an American animatrand comic creator.

He is best known as a writer and editor for several Warner Bros.

Tiny Toon Adventures, Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman/Superman Adventures, Batman Beyond, and Duck Dodgers are among the animated series based on DC Comics.

He created and scripted Krypto the Superdog, as well as contributed scripts to Transformers, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, and Static Shock.

Since leaving Warner Bros, he's been debating Warner Bros.

In early 2004, Dini began to write and story edit the widely distributed ABC adventure game Lost, which was both written and illustrated.

Harley Quinn and Superman: Peace on Earth are two of his many DC Comics books.

Tower Prep, Dini's first live action/drama series, premiered in October 2010.

After two decades of doing DC-related animation, Paul Dini had left Marvel to work as a writer and producer for Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.H.

Early life

Paul Dini was born in New York City, the son of Patricia (McClaran) and Robert Dini, an advertising executive. He is of Italian descent through his father. Dini received an art scholarship at Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California. He earned a BFA degree in creative writing at Emerson College in Boston.

He began writing scripts for Filmation and a few other studios during college. In 1984, he was recruited to work for George Lucas on several of his animation jobs. In 2007, Dini returned to the Star Wars universe to script multiple episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Personal life

Dini and his partner, a performer, and voiceover actress Misty Lee live in Los Angeles. In "Anger Management," a 2012 episode of The Dog Whisperer, their two Boston terriers, Mugsy and Deuce, were featured. Dini started a strong weight loss and fitness regimen around this time, gaining a 320-pound body.

Dini wrote a number of episodes of the 1983-1985 animated TV series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which became a favorite among the show's followers over the internet, as well as contributing to interviews about the series's newly released box sets. In 1983, he wrote an episode for the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon, "The Dweller in The Depths," an episode of the Generation One Transformers cartoon series, "The Dweller in The Depths," as well as an episode from 1985 G.I. "Jungle Trap" a Joe cartoon that appeared on various episodes of the Star Wars: Ewoks animated film, several of which featured rare appearances from the Empire.

Dini was employed at Warner Bros in 1989. On Tiny Toon Adventures, animation will be used. He later went to Batman: The Animated Series, where he spent time as a writer, producer, and editor, later working on Batman Beyond. Dini was the author of the episode Heart of Ice, which renamed Mr. Freeze is a tragic story that received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program. He continued to work with WB animation, including Krypto the Superdog and Duck Dodgers, until 2004. He wrote scripts for Monsters, "One Wolf's Family" and "Talk Nice to Me" in 1989 and 1990. Freakazoid was created by Bruce Timm and his partner.

He has received five Emmy Awards for his animation work. Dini was the co-author of Batman Animated, a 1998 non-fiction coffee table book about the animated Batman franchise, and a co-author with Chip Kidd.

Harley Quinn appeared in Batman: The Animated Series, as her first appearance was the episode "Joker's Favor," and they turned the character into comics in the Batman Adventures: Mad Love one-shot, which was released in 1994. In the Batman: Harley Quinn one-shot magazine, Quinn was integrated into the mainstream DC Comics continuity. Dini has written several comics stories for DC Comics, including an oversized graphic novel series based on painter Alex Ross' illustration of Superman (Batman: War on Crime). Shazam! Hope is Power (Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth) and the Justice League (Secret Origins and Justice) In 2005, a hardcover collection of the Dini and Ross stories was published under the heading The World's Greatest Superheroes.

Jingle Belle, the rebellious teen-age daughter of Santa Claus, is the most well-known of Dini's original creations. Sheriff Ida Red, the super-powered cowgirl star of a series of books set in Dini's mythical town of Mutant, Texas, was created by Dini. Clerks: The Animated Series co-author Kevin Smith. Dini was on the writing staff for the ABC adventure series Lost's first season.

In 2004, he and Bruce Timm co-created on the Harley and Ivy limited series for DC. Dini wrote an issue of DC Comics' Detective Comics as of issue #821 (Sept. 2006) and created a new Ventriloquist version in #827 (March 2007). Dini wrote a number of done-in-one stories over the next year, one focusing on Ra's al Ghul's resurrection and another on Hush's return to his homeland. Grant Morrison was starting a seven-year Batman tale based on long, interlinking arcs. R.I.P. ("Batman R.I.P.) is Morrison's favorite character. In 2009, the storyline was changed, and Dini began writing two new Batman titles, Batman: Streets of Gotham and Gotham City Sirens. streets of Gotham began and ended with story arcs about Hush, while Gotham City Sirens concentrated on the women of Gotham; the bulk of both books were written during their lifetime, including the first and last issue of both.

He revealed in 2006 that he was writing a hardcover graphic novel starring Zatanna and Black Canary. Countdown's chief writer was Joe Coburn during the previous year. Dini co-wrote a draft script for the ill-fated Science Ninja Team Gatchaman film, but it never saw the light of day, resulting in his departure from the project. Dini created Madame Mirage, a character he created for Top Cow Productions.

Dini began a GoAnimate collaboration in July 2008 to debut his Super Rica & Rashy series on the web. On a regular basis, Dini writes episodes. Anyone can write their own stories using the website's online animation creation tool.

He wrote the animated version of Batman's Batman in Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode "Legends of the Dark Mite" was a series in which he appeared. He appeared in an animated form in a comic book convention parody scene, where he was wearing Harley Quinn's costume and Bruce Timm wearing Joker's costume next to him. Several more episodes for the series, including "Chill of the Night," will follow. "Includes a team-up between Batman and Zatanna, one of Dini's favorite characters." The storyline for the Rocksteady Studios video game Batman: Arkham Asylum was written by Dini, who was first announced on August 25, 2009. "Cloak of Shadow," "Holocron Heist," and "Voyage of Temptation" were three episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

On the iFanboy website, the first edition of Dini's column, "200 Words with Paul Dini," was published on February 14, 2008.

Dini is the main creator of the live action drama Tower Prep Cartoon Network series. Dini will appear in Marvel Comics' forthcoming animated series Ultimate Spider-Man, which is expected to air on Disney XD in 2012. He appeared in Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.H., an animated film based on the Hulk and his supporting cast.

Dini worked with Rocksteady Studios once more to create Batman: Arkham City, which was a sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum. He created a five-issue comic book that was part of the game continuity. In honor of Dini Towers, a building in Arkham City has been named Dini Towers. He did not write the storyline for the third Rocksteady game in the series, Batman: Arkham Knight, because the company did not want to employ freelance writers for future games.

Dini wrote the script for Bloodspell, an original graphic novel starring Black Canary and Zatanna. In addition, he penned rewrites on Disney's dark fantasy film Maleficent.

On Kevin Smith's website, "Monkey Talk" by Paul Dini and his wife, magician Misty Lee, created an online interview feature.

In June 2016, his graphic novel Dark Night: A True Batman Story, based on a mugging he suffered in 1993, was published in June 2016.
