Paul Brandt Life

Paul Rennée Belobersycky (born July 21, 1972) is a Canadian country music performer best known professionally as Paul Brandt.

He was a pediatric RN at the time of his big break growing up in Calgary.

With the single "My Heart Has a History," he made his way into international fame and made him the first male Canadian country singer to debut in the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart since Hank Snow in 1974.

Early life

Brandt was born in Calgary, Alberta, and he grew to Airdrie, Alberta. When Brandt sang "Amazing Grace" at his high school, it was the first time he performed in front of an audience. He attended Crescent Heights High School from 1987 to 1990. He earned his nursing degree from Mount Royal University in 1992.

Personal life

On February 22, 1997, Brandt and his wife, Elizabeth Peterson, were married in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and they had their first child, a son in 2008. They had a daughter in November 2010.

On Saturday, October 17, 2009, Brandt was named Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts by the University of Lethbridge. On April 24, 2010, Briercrest College and Seminary also awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity.

Brandt earned a degree in Nursing in 1992 and now serves as the institution's storyteller-in-residence.

When touring in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, he asked for some shelter dogs to be brought to his green room before his performance. A litter of puppies was donated by the Lethbridge and District Humane Society, one of whom he adopted and named "Chief" was one of them.

Paul Brandt Career

Career

Brandt's talk was one of many sent by A&Rs in Warner Nashville to their Warner colleagues in the hopes of establishing a joint venture between the two departments. Paige Levy of Nashville ruled out Brandt's albums before advising HitQuarters that he has a huge talent as a songwriter. As a result, the artist began to travel to Nashville to undergo renovations. He was matched up with several experienced writers with whom he could relate to, collaborate well with, and who could help him develop his writing abilities. A substantial portion of Brandt's debut album Calm Before the Storm was created as a result of these collaborations.

"My Heart Has a History" was a top-one hit in Canada, as was his debut album, "Calm Before the Storm." He continued with three hits, "I Do" (which he wrote for his friend's wedding), "I Meant to Do This" and "Take It From Me." Calm Before the Storm was named Gold by the Royal Institute of British Agricultural Association in 1997, it was declared a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Outside the Frame, Brandt's second album, Outside the Frame, did not have the same success as Calm Before the Storm. The album did have some hit singles, including "A Little in Love" and "What's Come Over You." Brandt released his third album, That's the Truth, in 1999, determined to put his stamp in Nashville. It was not received as warmly as the previous two, but the songs "That's the Truth" and "The Sycamore Tree" became well-known. In 2000, he released What I Want to Be Remembered For, Canada's only top hits compilation.

Brandt left Warner/Reprise Records and created Brand-T Records, his own company. Every album that Brandt has released on Brand-T Records has received an Album of the Year award (2002 CCMA's), This Time Around (2005 CCMA's), and A Gift (GMA - Seasonal Recording of the Year).

Small Towns and Big Dreams, the unsigned artist's debuting of his live acoustic album, took home the CCMA Album of the Year. His label's success has continued as the sequel to his debut album This Time Around went on to win CCMA Album of the Year and a GMA Canada Covenant Award for the song "That's What I Love About Jesus" (2004). This Time Around went platinum in Canada and also released Keith Urban's "Leavin'" and his version of the trucker classic "Convoy," which was released on Capitol Records. "Alberta Bound," the album's last single/video, a salute to the people and places of that province. Despite the song's name, it is not a remake of the Gordon Lightfoot song.

Brandt's album Risk, which was released in September 2007, was released. In his hometown town, he received the Juno Award for "Risk" as Country Recording of the Year on April 6, 2008. In May 2007, the first single for this project, "Didn't Even See the Dust," was released to country radio. In Barcelona, Spain, the video was shot. "Dust" was one of Canada's most popular country music songs of 2007.

On September 13, 2011, Brandt released the album Give It Away. On October 16, 2012, he unveiled Just As I Am, his first gospel project. It includes songs that Brandt grew up on and based his life on.

Brandt released the single "I'm an Open Road" starring Jess Moskaluke in 2015, his first single to be certified Gold by Music Canada. With The Journey YYC, Vol. 2, he announced a two-part extended play series in 2018. In April 2018, one was published, and The Journey BNA, Vol. 1, was published. In November 2018, two following followed.
