Patty Murray Career

As a citizen-lobbyist for environmental and educational issues, Murray has said, a state representative once told her she could not make a difference because she was just a "mom in tennis shoes". The phrase stuck, and she later used it in her successful campaigns for Shoreline School District board of directors (1985–89), Washington State Senate (1989–93), and United States Senate (1993–present). Murray was successful in gathering grassroots support to strike down proposed preschool program budget cuts.

In 1988, Murray unseated two-term incumbent Republican state Senator Bill Kiskaddon.

The most shocking taxpayer-funded earmarks in Congress' $460 billion must-pass spending bill avoided government shutdown in 3 days, with $1 million for LGBT bondage parties, money for shark repellent studies, and homes for actoring artists

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 6, 2024
The earmarks have already caused scandal in the Senate, where Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman's staff tried to rescind his vote for a $1 million earmark for a BDSM-owned gay center in Pennsylvania. Fetterman, who was long one of the most adamant pro-LGBTQ legislators in the Keystone State, retaliated on social media, causing a backlash, prompting him to try to erase his name from the earmark. Fetterman told reporters later that it was his employees, not him, that attempted to withhold the funds. 'It wasn't my decision,' he said. I was not aware of the procedure.'

Legisl lawmakers have finally published text of the first government financing bills with just 6 days before shutting down: Speaker Johnson praises 'policy wins,' including cuts to Biden departments, as well as the FBI, which are allies of the 'left-wing' policies

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 3, 2024
The six bills must pass before Friday to prevent a partial government shutdown, including those involving cuts to FBI and EPA budgets, which would have to be voted out of office by Friday. Despite a divided government' and skepticism against 'left-wing policies' in the agreement with Democrats, Speaker Johnson said that Republicans "secured key conservative policy victories" despite a 'divided government' and rejected "left-wing plans" in the deal. The bill includes funding for six federal departments, including Commerce-Justice-Science, Energy-Water, Interior-Environment, Military Construction-VA, and Transportation-HUD.

Mastercard has asked banks to prohibit MARIJUANA transactions from being made on debit cards

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 27, 2023
Mastercard has advised US banks to prohibit marijuana transactions on its debit cards, putting the bank at a disadvantage. Despite several states allowing marijuana use for medicinal and recreational purposes, the majority of major banks in the country have generally restricted cannabis use as weed remains unlawful under federal jurisdiction. To varying degrees, 38 states, including California, Florida, and New York, have legalized the use of marijuana. Mastercard reported that it had become aware of the use of PIN debit cards on the company's website for cannabis transactions.
