The narrator, who has since been revealed as Patrick, recalls his time growing up under his madcap aunt Mame Dennis's wing.
In 1958, Dennis wrote Around the World with Auntie Mame.
Dennis based Mame Dennis on his father's sister, Marion Tanner.
Dennis also wrote several books under the pseudonym Virginia Rowans. "I write in the first person, but it is all fictional."
The public assumes that what seems to be fictional is true; therefore, the only way for me to be innovative is to appear factual but not fictional." All of Dennis' books use masks, subterfuge, and deception to varying degrees.
Early life
Dennis was born Edward Everett Tanner III in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward Everett Tanner II and Florence (née Thacker) Tanner, and he grew up in Evanston, Illinois.
