Passenger Career

Music career

Rosenberg appeared in his first appearance when he was 16 years old. In 2001, Rosenberg's father, a film production worker, introduced him to Jamie Catto, a former member of the band Faithless; this led to Rosenberg's appearance at the Royal Court in London in 2002. Rosenberg met his future writing partner Andrew Phillips on the night and established contact with the IE Music group. Williams, Phillips, and Rosenberg collected their musical influences (from Simon & Garfunkel to DJ Shadow) and began to perform at Phillips' in-house studio in Hove. They formed the Mike Rosenberg Band in 2003, involving Marcus O'Dair (bass), Alon Cohen (drums), and Richard Brinklow (keyboards) through their Brighton music scene connections.

In Brighton and Hove, Rosenberg formed Passenger with Andrew Phillips in 2003. The band's name was stylized as /Passenger.' (With a slash at the start and a dot at the end). Wicked Man's Rest, the five-person band's first album, was released in 2007 on Chalkmark. Rosenberg wrote the bulk of the album's songs, with the exception of "Four Horses," which was written by Phillips. In 2009, the band split up.

Rosenberg retained the band's name as his personal stage name after the break-up of Passenger and went solo. He went to Australia in October 2009 and embraced Lior and Sydneysiders Elana Stone and Brian Campeau. He appeared at One Movement, a major music industry festival in Perth, before. He had a following in Australia, and he was selling out 500-seater restaurants around Australia. Wide Eyes Blind Love, his debut solo album, was released in 2009. Ex bandmate Andrew Phillips, who also provided backing vocals, and played guitar and other instruments, as well as Isobel Anderson's featured vocals. During this period, Rosenberg appeared at various shows in the United Kingdom, including a support slot for Turin Brakes' tenth anniversary show at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London.

Divers and Submarines, a fan-only limited release by Rosenberg, were also backed by former bandmate Andrew Phillips and singer Isobel Anderson. Flight of the Crow, his third studio album, was released in Australia, and saw him perform in the studio by a number of Australian independent musicians, including Lior, Kate Miller-Heidke, Boy & Bear, Josh Pyke, and Katie Noonan.

All the Little Lights, Rosenberg's fourth album, was released in North America on Nettwerk Records in the summer of 2012. Tim Hart, jazz bassist Cameron Undy, and keyboards player Stu Hunter, from Katie Noonan and The Captains, were all present on Linear Recording in Sydney, Rosenberg. Rosenberg toured the United Kingdom in the summer and autumn of 2012, the latter of whom was visiting Sheeran's first appearance when he was living in Cambridge at the age of 15. He appeared with John Butler Trio and Josh Pyke as co-headlined UK tours. He opened the 2012 North American tour and later in Paris. He opened for Ed Sheeran on four of his five sell-out dates in Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand in early 2013, and he also supported Sheeran in his Brighton dates and in Reading. At the Children in Need Rocks concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, Rosenberg performed "All the Little Lights" on BBC One on November 14, 2013.

Rosenberg performed "Whispers," the title track of his forthcoming album, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where he also appeared alongside Ed Sheeran. Rosenberg's fifth studio album was revealed on March 26, 2014. Whispers were first published on June 9, 2014. "This is obviously the most 'up' album I've ever made,'" he said on Digital Spy about the album. There are several big stories and big thoughts out there. While there are also some sombre moments of loneliness and death, it would not be a Passenger album without them. On April 14, 2014, Heard performed "Hearts on Fire" as the album's lead single.

Rosenberg recorded Whispers II at the same time as recording Whispers. Whispers II was announced on April 20, 2015. All proceeds from the album go to the UNICEF UK project to help children in Liberia.

The music video for "Somebody's Love" on YouTube was released on June 16, marking his seventh album, Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea. On August 19, 2016, the album's second track, "Anywhere," was released. Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea was released on September 23, 2016, and it became Passenger's first UK number one album.

Rosenberg said on Sunday that his appearance on Sunday, July 25th, as the result of his Young as the Morning and Old as the Sea tour, would be "my/our last gig for a long time." On the following day, he revealed that his eighth album, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, would be out two days later on July 28. The album was announced with a livestream of the album's entirety, ranging from Passenger's studio to YouTube and Facebook simultaneously. The album debuted at number 5 in the Official UK Charts, ranked 5th.

Passenger's "Hell or High Water" was released on May 18, 2018. It was shot in a number of national parks in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and California. In the days after, he announced a fall European tour and teased fans via social media with a cover for a new album.

He officially announced his ninth studio album, Runaway, on May 25, 2018, as well as a live acoustic version of "Hell or High Water" recorded in Venice, Los Angeles. Passenger referred to Runaway as a concept album because he realized that several of the songs had a strong sense of Americana. He also believed the songs would be well supported by American visuals, and so, with longtime collaborators Jarrad Seng, Stu Larsen, and Chris Vallejo, embarked on a three-week road trip through the United States to film clips for each track. In addition, they made acoustic videos for each track, which were shot in a variety of countries. Rosenberg is expected to release a song every three weeks, as well as a behind-the-scenes video. On August 31, 2018, Runaway was announced.

Passenger released the song "Restless Wind" on YouTube on March 18, 2019. A month later, two more songs, "Helplessly Lost" and "Paper Cut, Chinese Burn," were released, as well as a a photo of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide." Passenger's tenth album, Sometimes It's Something, Sometimes It's Nothing at All. The record is arranged entirely for vocals, acoustic guitar, and a string quartet, unlike other Passenger albums. Shelter, a UK-based homeless charity, will earn all the money from the sales.

Passenger revealed a world tour with dates in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, North America, and New Zealand at the end of January. He announced and premiered his latest single "The Way That I Love You" on March 20, 2020 with a video. He released his new single "London In The Spring" on May 1, 2020. Passenger's eleventh album Patchwork was released on July 10th, 2020. During the coronavirus lockdown with producer Chris Vallejo and guest musicians Andrew Phillips (a collaborator of Rosenberg's and formerly of the band Passenger) and Richard Brinklow, the album was written and recorded. The record was revealed as part of The Trussell Trust, an NGO and charity that aims to eliminate the need for food banks in the United Kingdom.

Passenger's Drunk and Broken Hearts were released on January 8, 2021. The record was supposed to be out early 2020, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus lockdown. Both Ecologi and Eden Reforestation Projects, non-profit groups aiming to restore natural landscapes that have been devastated by deforestation, are among the record's most popular initiatives. For every physical copy of the album that was not sold through the Passenger store, a tree will be planted.

Passenger's 14th studio album, Birds That Flew and Ships That Sailed, came out on April 14-2022. The album was released unsigned, without a record label or a press team. Plastic Bank, a social enterprise that fights plastic pollution in the ocean, is among the record launch. The album debuted at number 35 on the Official UK Albums Chart, marking Passenger's eighth album to debut in the UK Top 40.
