Pamela Blake (September 6, 1915 – October 6, 2009) was an American film actress who appeared in over 50 films.
She is best known for her appearances in western films and serials.
Early years
Adele Pearce was born in Oakland, California, and he continued to perform under that name until 1942. In Petaluma, California, she and her mother, Deborah Bojorques and Gertrude Biddle-Bojorques, lived with an uncle and aunt. She received her secondary education in Petaluma and San Francisco.
She went to Hollywood at the age of 17 after winning a beauty competition.
Personal life and death
Blake was hurt in an automobile accident in 1935 that may have ended her career. "With a neck badly broken and both eyes and cheeks badly bruised," a newspaper article in The Petaluma Argus-Courier in 1940 described her as having emerged from the wrecked car "with a neck badly broken and both eyes and cheeks badly mutilated." Plastic surgery helped her to return to acting.
Blake has married three times. In 1936, she and actor Malcolm "Bud" Taggert married in Yuma, Arizona. In 1940, the couple divorced. In 1943, her second marriage, to actor, television producer, and writer Mike Stokey, was ended in divorce in 1948. Mike Stokey II, their son, and Barbara Barrett had one daughter, Barbara. Their son served as a 1st Marine Division combat reporter during the Vietnam War and then began as a military technical advisor, having worked with, among others, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
Blake retired and raised her two children in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1953. In 1983, she married John Canavan, an Air Force master sergeant. In 2009, Blake died of natural causes in a Las Vegas, Nevada care facility at the age of 94.
