Laurence auditioned for the new musical Matilda on Broadway in 2012 after numerous appearances in regional theatre performances and small roles in short films and television episodes. Laurence earned her place in Matilda, appearing on the programme from March 4 to December 15, 2013. Bailey Ryon, Milly Shapiro, and Sophia Gennusa were among others who appeared alongside her on Broadway.
Laurence's character developed to film acting after Matilda, Laurence's return to film acting, appeared in Tumorhead, A Little Game, The Grief of Others, I Smile Back, Damsel, Lamb, and Southpaw.
