Omri Katz Reveals He Was High While Filming "Hocus Pocus": "I Was Having a Good Old Time"

www.popsugar.co.uk, October 28, 2022
According to Omri Katz, aka the cynical protagonist Max from "Hocus Pocus," the then-16-year-old has almost been banned from being high on the set of the 1993 film. "I remember being at an age when I first started experimenting with marijuana," Katz said in a 26-October interview with Entertainment Weekly. Let's just say that I was having a good time in these scenes." Katz, despite his best efforts, admitted that he wasn't really good at disguising his behind-the-scenes habits, which made him a point of suspicion. Though he can't remember which scenes were problematic, he does know that crew members began to catching on. "I'll tell you what I do remember: I was misperforming and not hitting my keys or marks." Kenny [Ortega, the director] comes up to me and practically grabs me by the shirt, and he was like, 'Are you high?' "No," Katz said, and of course, I was."
