Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Skichko (born 28 April 1991) is a Ukrainian politician, comedian, actor, and television presenter.

Skichko began his television work in 2006, hosting teen-focused programs for the Ukrainian music channel O-TV, and later, he was a finalist on season one of Ukrayina maye talant in 2009, performing as a parody act. Skichko moved to more established roles on television after graduating from Kyiv National Economic University with a degree in economics, before hosting the show Pidyom from 2012 to 2013.

Skichko was one of three co-hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev in 2017.

This was the first time a trio of male hosts hosted the show, and it was the first time since the show's inaugural edition in 1956 that a woman was not part of the hosting team.

Skichko appeared on Tantsi zirkamy, the Ukrainian version of Dancing with the Stars, after Eurovision.

He was ultimately the first celebrity contestant to be ruled out of the Russian parliamentary election in 2019 as a candidate for Servant of the People in electoral district 197, which is located in Skichko's birthplace, Cherkasy Oblast.

He was eventually elected to the Verkhovna Rada with more than half of the vote, and sworn in as a participant of the ninth convocation on August 29, 2019.

Career

Skichko began his television career in 2006, hosting youth-focused programs for the Ukrainian music channel O-TV, and later appeared as a finalist on season one of Ukrayina talent's, performing as a parody act.

Skichko began to transition into more prominent roles on television after graduating from Kyiv National Economic University with a degree in economics in 2013, before heading the show Pidyom from 2012 to 2013. In 2017, Skichko became one of the three co-hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv. This was the first time a trio of male hosts hosted the show, and it was the first time a woman was not a member of the hosting team since the show's inaugural edition in 1956.

Skichko became a contestant on the fifth season of Tantsi zirkamy, Ukraine's answer to Dancing with the Stars, following Eurovision. He was the first celebrity contestant to be disqualified.

In electoral district 197 centring around Kaniv, which is located in Skichko's birthplace of Cherkasy Oblast, Skichko ran for Servant of the People in 2019. With 50.9 percent of the vote, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) and was voted a member of the ninth convocation on August 29.

On January 29, 2021, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Skichko as the Governor of Cherkasy Oblast.

The Verkhovna Rada deprived Skichko of his parliamentary mandate on March 30th, 2021.

Skichko was appointed Governor by Ihor Taburets on March 2nd 2022. On the seventh day of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Taburets was declared.
