Early life
Reid was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He became interested in theatre around age six and attended productions with his family throughout his childhood. He attended Etobicoke School of the Arts in 2008 and is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada.
Personal life
On December 31, 2018, Reid revealed that he would marry Clare Stone, a former actor. They were married on July 25, 2020, and their first child (a son) is due in 2022. Reid is a dual Canadian-American citizen.
Career
Reid, who began as a child actor, did extensive voice work for Canadian and American children's television and was the first voice of the title character in Franklin, from 1997 to 2004. He co-starred in Strange Days at Blake Holsey High School of the Arts while at Etobicoke School of the Arts (2002–2006).
Reid starred in Darrell Fox in Terry Fox's made-for-television film Terry Fox, which chronicled Terry Fox's historic journey for cancer research in 2005. He appeared in the Naturally Sadie episode "As the Whirly Turns" in 2007. Reid appeared in the Degrassi: The Next Generation episode "Danger Zone" in 2009.
Farley Gordon in Score: A Hockey Musical, Reid's first leading role in a feature film, premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. He appeared on television, including in the crime drama Rookie Blue (2012, where he met prospective wife Clare Stone) and the drama series Cracked (2013). In 2013, he appeared in the CW web series Backpackers. Reid appeared in Annie Murphy's first episode of her CBC television show The Plateaus for a brief period of time in 2015. He appeared in Kevin From Work, the ABC Family comedies, in the same year. After one season, the show was cancelled.
Reid was selected for a Canadian Screen Award for his role in the film People Hold On (2015), in which he also appeared. Songs From a Broken Chair, a self-produced full-length original album, was also released.
In the third season of the CBC drama Schitt's Creek, Reid appeared as Patrick. He appeared in the independent film Cardinals this year, alongside Sheila McCarthy, which premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.

Reid debuted his first album in February 2020 and toured North America to promote his then-outstanding second album. Gemini, a compilation, was released on May 29, 2020; the album's cover referenced Reid's dual status as both a musician and actor by depicting a Gemini Award statuette.
Reid made his Broadway debut in April 2022, appearing in Tracy Letts's The Minutes' original Broadway cast, and his third album, Adjustments, was released in June 2022.
