Nicholas Campbell (born 24 March 1952) is a Canadian actor and filmmaker who has received three Gemini Awards for acting.

He is best known for films like Naked Lunch, Prozac Nation, New Waterford Girl, and Da Vinci's Inquest, which is a television series.

Early life

Campbell was born in Toronto and raised in Montreal. He studied Political Studies at Upper Canada College and Kingston's Queen's University, but later moved to English and Drama. He continued his education in England, spending five years at the London Drama Studio and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Campbell spent 40 weeks in the United States with the York Theatre Royal Repertory Company. In 1976, He appeared in The Omen, his first film role. He divided his time in Toronto, Los Angeles, and New York after returning from England. He migrated to Canada in the 1990s.

Career

Diamonds and The Hitchhiker's lead roles in his film and television appearances. He had small parts in A Bridge Too Far (1977), The Eagle Has Landed (1976), and the Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). Campbell appeared in the 1985 film Certain Fury for the third time. Billy Quinn, a performer on CBC's Big Crime (1997), was named Best Actor for his role. Bobby Kennedy's role in Hoover vs. The Kennedys (Gemini nominee for best actor in a miniseries), Moving Home (nominated for a BAFTA Award), and The Valour and the Horror were among the dramas on Monday. The Sleep Room, Diana Kilmury: Teamster (Gemini award for best supporting actor in a drama), and The Diary of Evelyn Lau are among the Sleep Room's other productions. Campbell has also worked with David Cronenberg, appearing in films like Naked Lunch, The Dead Zone, Fast Company, and The Brood. Campbell has appeared on television shows including Space: 1999, Airwolf, Blue Murder, and Other Assigned Actors in a Guest Role Dramatic Series. Campbell is also an excellent film director, in addition to his acting career. At the 14th Genie Awards, he produced and directed Stepping Razor: Red X, a 1992 documentary film that received a Genie Award nomination for Best Feature Length Documentary.

Campbell's work as coroner Dominic Da Vinci in Da Vinci's Inquest gave him critical praise. Innumera's Inquest of Da Vinci was nominated for several Gemini Awards. The show's winning three awards for best writing in a dramatic series and three for the best dramatic sequence. Campbell received the Gemini Award for his best performance in a new leading role for his role in the series. Campbell also produced a number of episodes of Da Vinci's Inquest.

In 2005, Da Vinci's Inquest came to an end. The character in Da Vinci's City Hall, which aired the following season, followed his real-life inspiration, Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell (no relation to Nicholas), into municipal politics. No more episodes are planned, but there is talk of a series of television movies that would carry on the story.
