Nandakumar Puspanathan Life

* Nandakumar Puspanathan (born 23 June 1974) is a Malaysian rally pilot. He began his rallying career in the Malaysian Rally Championship 2001, escorting a solo into Proton Satria 1600. He soon established a reputation for achieving record-breaking stage times. Nandakumar formed Suresh Parkash Sharma in 2004, and the pair began winning class titles and top-five overall rankings. The pair went on to win the National 1600 Championship for the year and were honoured by the Automobile Association of Malaysia with the "Malaysian Most Promising Rally Driver Award for 2004." Following Nandakumar and Suresh Sharma's service with Perodua M5 Racing Team, they were contracted to the factory team. Many top five finishes overall and several class wins highlighted the pair's talent and versatility, as well as their ability to finish 5th overall and win the National Championship in their class in 2006. With the introduction of the Perodua Myvi, an experimental 1.6 litre Front wheel drive rally version made its debut in mid-2007 with Nandakumar at the wheel. The prototype, on the other hand, was continually plagued by electrical gremlins and mechanical malfunctions, and although the pair earned a few podium positions in the car, there were also a number of retirements. After a transmission failure in the second round of the Malaysian Rally Championship 2008, Nandakumar was dropped by the Perodua Rally Team, citing race-based policy as the reason for the decision. * Nandakumar, a Malaysian born ethnic Indian, was later replaced by rally driver Jamaludin Tukmin, an ethnic Malay. Unfazed, Nandakumar and Suresh Sharma competed in the next round of their old 1.8 litre Proton Satria as privateers and finished the round on the podium ahead of their former team members. The pair gained a ride with the GSR - Pennzoil Racing Team in the following rounds, and continued to dominate the Malaysian Rally Championship at every round, extending their lead in the 2 wheel drive segment. Nandakumar completed the 2008 Malaysian rally Championships as the best in the world, but he changed his attention to automotive engineering as a result of available or career progression. Nandakumar is also a chassis engineer who was educated by Lotus Engineering as a chassis product engineer and test pilot. * His tenacious combination of driving and engineering skills has since helped him advance to a career in vehicle dynamics in the automotive and motorsport industries.
