Najat Aatabou Life

Najat Abou (born in Meknes) is a Moroccan singer, rapper, songwriter, and composer.

She is perhaps best known for her song "Hadi Kedba Bayna," which was sampled by the Chemical Brothers in their 2004 album "Galvanize."

Early life

Najat Abou was born in Khémisset on May 9, 1960 into a lower-class family with five brothers and four sisters. She had aspired to become a lawyer but life would go in a different direction. Singing was her favorite thing to do, and she'd walk to school every morning singing songs. She would sneak out of her bedroom window and sing at local weddings and school parties for money as she approached the age of thirteen. A friend of one of these parties caught her voice with a tape recorder. The tape was sold illegally in Morocco, and it ("J'en ai marre") ("I've had enough of it") became extremely popular." Soon, her family learned of her singing and did not accept her choice of career. Her brothers threatened to kill her if she stayed. She was afraid and had to leave home. She rushed to the local music store, which was her first choice because "they played music there," she later explained. A coincidence occurred on a certain day. After he had heard the song (Jen ai marre), a well-known Moroccan music producer (Mustapha El Mils) walked into the store, searching for Najat A'tabou. He begged for her confidence and agreed to join him in Casablanca. She left Casablanca, where she would stay for three years as the mother of the music producer, having no choice but to leave Casablanca. Her family discovered her after three years and she and her family responded.

Personal life

Najat Aboutabou is married to Moroccan music producer Hassan Dikouk and has three children. She now lives in a chalet in the south of France and still plays songs.
