Salma Rachid (born 13 June 1994) is a Moroccan singer who appeared in the second season of Arab Idol, which was broadcast on MBC.

She earned fifth place and was praised for her voice, her ability to control many styles, and her charisma.

By her followers, she was dubbed El Sultana and thinks of Umm Kulthum as her main inspiration.

Early life

Salma was born and raised in the neighborhood of Hay Mohammedi, Morocco's Ain Sebay Mohammedi district. Salma was devoted to music, drawing, and fashion from a young age. During an interview with MBC, she confessed to stealing clothes from her family, breaking them apart and stitching them to make new clothing. She also said in the same interview that she almost was struck by a car when she was younger, but that her best friend saved her from losing her own life. She graduated from high school in June 2012, earning her baccalauréat and enrolling in university, where she continued her studies in economics.
