Mukesh Chhabra is a Mumbai-based Indian casting director, acting workshop director, and actor who has cast several actors for movies including director Vikas Bahl's Chillar Party, Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur, Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che and Nikhil Advani's D-Day. Chhabra is set to make his directorial debut with a remake of the movie The Fault in Our Stars’.

Early life
He spent early days growing up in Mayapuri in West Delhi. Chhabra graduated from Delhi University with an acting diploma from the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts. He completed a six-year acting and teaching stint with the ‘Theatre in Education’ Company (TIE) affiliated with the National School of Drama in India. Chhabra is based in Mumbai.
Career
Chhabra came to Mumbai in 1997 and worked as an Assistant Casting Director before establishing his own casting company. Chintuji was his first film as an independent casting director.
Chhabra was also responsible for casting for films of various genres, including Kai Po Che, Shahid, Chennai Express, Jai Ho, Hasee To Phasee, Mastram, and D-day. Chhabra has employed various unusual casting techniques throughout his career. For example, he noticed young actor Irfan Khan, who appeared in the film 'Fatka', on Mumbai's streets. Actor Rajkumar Rao was selected to play one of the film Kai Po Che only on Chhabra's insistence. Rao's performance in the film earned him critical acclaim, and Chhabra later cast him as the leading man in Shahid.
