Spurlock died last Thursday, as confirmed by his family, from complications from cancer, which he'd been battling privately. Let's find out - I'm ready.' What did happen was 'Super Size Me', an Oscar-nominated 2004 documentary smash-hit that sparked an international debate about the malign effects of fast-food fixation. Spurlock ate at McDonald's restaurants three times a day, consuming every item on the chain's menu at least once, and not eating or drinking anything else that wasn't for sale - or so he claimed.
