Life and career

She completed her studies in Milan, Italy, where she began her voice training. She made her international debut in Bologna with La voix humaine de La voix humaine de Paol Poulenc in 1984. Her well-managed voice, unified from top to bottom, with moderate volume and fine quality, made her ideal for the lyric Italian repertory and was soon in demand throughout Europe.

In 1985, she made her La Scala debut, playing Proserpina in Luigi Rossi's first modern revival of Orfeo. She appeared in Die Frau ohne Schatten and La Sonnambula in the following seasons. She has appeared in Hamburg, Geneva, and the Wexford Festival, as well as in Boito's Mefistofele. Other roles have included; Donizetti's Anna Bolena, Verdi's Violetta in La Traviata, Gilda, Rigoletto, and Donizetti's Adina in Elisir d'Amor, Mozart's Donna Elvira and Illia, and Massenet's title role in Manon; Donizetti's Anna Bolena; Manuel d'Amor, Mozart's Anna Bolena

Miriam Gauci was already a favorite in Vienna, Munich, Hamburg, and Santa Fe by 1992. Mim was her Metropolitan debut in New York in 2001, followed by Cio-Cio San and Mim at San Francisco's War Memorial Opera House.

She appears on several recordings, including those on Pagliacci, Manon Lescaut, Madama Butterfly, Simon Boccanegra, Otello, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Requiem, as well as a recital of Italian opera arias for Naxos, as well as a recording of Italian opera arias for Naxos.

Her career has flourished, with concerts and recitals all around Europe and the United States, and she has performed well in those capacities, including Butterfly, Manon Lescaut, Angelica, and Mim.
