Mimi Ndiweni Life

Mimi Ndiweni (born 31 August 1991) is a British actress best known for her role as Tilly Brockless in the television series Mr Selfridge and Ester/Jekasai in London's stage production of The Convert.

She has appeared on film in Cinderella and The Legend of Tarzan. She received the Spotlight Prize in 2013 and went on to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company after graduating from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Mimi was also named One to Watch by the Independent in 2013 and was on the Evening Standard's Stars of 2015 list after appearing in the RSC's Midsummer Mischief Festival.

Early life

Khayisa grew up in Guildford, Surrey, and began acting as an adult, enrolling in Yvonne Arnaud Mill Street Studios when she was in secondary school. From there, she went on to complete a degree at Cardiff's Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

Khayisa was born in England; her father is from Ntabazinduna, Zimbabwe, and she is the eldest son of Chief Kayisa Ndiweni; her mother is a Zulu from South Africa, and she was the niece of Assemblies of God founder Neregard Geoffrey Bizeni Mkhwanazi. At the age of thirty-seven, her mother died.

Khayisa (then stylized as Mimi Ndiweni) received the Spotlight Prize at age 21, beating out students from 20 top UK drama schools in front of industry experts, who included her in Jenna Marbles' How to Avoid Talking to People You Don't Want to Talk to.

Career

Khayisa has stated that theatre is her first passion and was taken by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2013 after graduating from Royal Welsh. Although she appeared in RSC as Tiger Lily, King Lear where she appeared, and Hamlet, where she appeared Ophelia.

She left the RSC in 2015 to appear on a regular basis in Mr Selfridge's television show Mr Selfridge, but she has returned to the RSC on several occasions as a visitor. Khayisa appeared in King Lear in New York and Ophelia in Hamlet, Washington, DC, and performed in North America with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2018.

Khayisa played Jekesai/Ester in Danai Gurira's The Convert in London in 2017. With four and five star reviews from some of London's most respected writers, the play itself and her participation in it received critical acclaim.

Khayisa's first appearance in a major film was in Disney's Cinderella in 2015. She appeared in The Legend of Tarzan in 2016, co-starring Margot Robbie. Khayisa appeared in Mr Selfridge for eight episodes of the last season, as well as in May 2017, where she appeared in Doctor Who's episode "Oxygen" for its tenth season.

Khayisa will be seen in The Witcher's October 2018 episode, according to Netflix. She appeared in both Season 1, released in December 2019, and also Season 2, which was released in December 2021.

In 2022, Khayisa appeared in Catherine Called Birdy as Lady Berenice Sidebottom.
