Mikko Nissinen (born March 4, 1962) is a Finnish ballet dancer.
He has appeared with the Dutch National Ballet and the San Francisco Ballet.
He is the Artistic Director of Boston Ballet, a post he has held since 2002. Nissinen, a native of Finland, started his ballet lessons with the Finnish National Ballet School at age ten, before beginning his studies at the Kirov Ballet School.
Jacobson, Damianov, Sokolov, and Teräsvuori were his primary teachers.
He took First Prize at The National Ballet Competition in Kuopio, Finland, in 1978.
Nissinen began his professional dance career at the age of fifteen and went on to perform with the Dutch National Ballet, Basel Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet, where he was Principal Dancer for nine years.
