Mike Bullard Career

Career

Bullard, a native of Mississauga, served briefly with Peel Regional Police in his youth, but resigned after being refused to moonlight in comedy clubs. He then returned to Bell Canada, where he had worked previously, and was later promoted to associate director of corporate investigation while still working part-time as a stand-up comedian.

In 1997, Larry Bullard's stand-up career led him to his role as the host of Open Mike with Mike Bullard. The late-night talk variety show, which was considered the first commercial effort at the time, aired nightly on The Comedy Network and the CTV Television Network, and received a Gemini Award. Open Mike had higher Canadian ratings than The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman at its peak. Bullard accused executives at his old network of not supporting the show and of being "dysfunctional," resulting in countercharges of "bitterness" against Bullard, who was described as having "burned his bridges" on CTV and the Comedy Network.

Bullard was recruited by Global in 2003 to host The Mike Bullard Show in the same time slot as Open Mike, but with much of the same staff and sketches as Open Mike. The new show, on the other hand, was postponed on March 12, 2004, after 13 weeks on poor ratings against Jon Stewart, which CTV aired against Bullard's latest film.

Bullard returned to work as a stand-up comedian, starred in a weight loss clinic, and performed at a cameo appearance at the Gemini Awards in which he played a corpse protesting "I'm not dead yet!" following his show's cancellation. He was taken from the stage by medics, but medics had to rescue him from the scene. On XM Canada's Laugh Attack channel, Bullard began an uncensored morning satellite radio show, but after five months, the program was cancelled.

In 2006, Bullard returned to television to host HouseCapades, a real estate series depicting the simpler aspects of selling one's home. Bullard was the host of The Mike Bullard Show on Talk820 Radio (CHAM-AM) in Hamilton, Ontario, in August 2009, but his evening drive show was cancelled when CHAM switched to a country music style in July 2010.

Bullard, 2010 to 2016, hosted Beyond the Mic with Mike Bullard on Newstalk 1010 in Toronto.

On Sauga 960 AM in Mississauga, as host Lawrence Morganstern of the afternoon drive time show The Getaway, he returned to broadcasting in October 2018. In late January 2019, the show came to a halt.

You Too with Mike Bullard, Bullard's first podcast in 2019 was released.

Could TRAILER PARKS solve the housing crisis? For a fraction of the cost of bricks and mortar, upmarket 'gated manufactured home parks' offer safe, spacious homes

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 30, 2023
People have started to favor 'gated manufactured home parks' rather than conventional homes in Massachusetts and all around the country due to rising house prices. Unlike the old picture of sloppy trailer parks, current mobile park occupants now reside in secluded, safe communities without having to worry about property taxes. As reported by the Boston Globe, one of these residents is Jack Behan, 61, who lives in a two-bedroom manufactured house with a complete kitchen and one and a half bath at Nob Hill Estates in Weymouth, Massachusetts. 'The neighborhood is a little gem.' I have a lovely yard, I am close to shopping, a local hospital, and the highway. 'When my friends visit, they are awe,' he told the store last year.'
