Michael Ian Black Life

Michael Ian Black (born Michael Ian Schwartz; August 12, 1971) is an American comedian, actor, writer, and director.

He has starred in several TV comedy series, including The State, Viva Variety, Stella, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Michael & Michael Have Issues, and Another Period.

He also appeared on Celebrity Poker Showdown several times.

He released his first children's book, Chicken Cheeks, in 2009, and has since released six more, in addition to four books for adults.

Early life

Black was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Jill and Robert Schwartz, a store owner and an executive, respectively. His family is Jewish. He grew up in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey, where he attended Hillsborough High School. His parents divorced when he was three years old; his mother, Jill, later came out as a lesbian. Black's father died at age 39 due to a head injury apparently suffered in an assault and allergic reaction during subsequent surgery.

His birth name, Schwartz, is derived from the German word schwarz, which means black. He changed his name to Michael Ian Black to avoid confusion with the actor Mike Schwartz.

Black briefly attended New York University, but dropped out to portray Raphael in the promotional campaign for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles concert tour.

Personal life

Black married Martha Anne Hagen in 1998. They have two children, Elijah (born 2001), and Ruthie (born 2003). They reside in Savannah, Georgia.

Michael Ian Black Career

Career

Black began his career as a member of The State, and he was on the television show of the same name on MTV. On the show Viva Variety in the role of "Johnny Bluejeans" and "Wet Hot American Summer," directed by frequent collaborator David Wain, he continued working with members of the company.

Black also appeared in numerous TV series and films on VH1's I Love the... series, his comedy troupe Stella, and other television series and films. He appeared in commercials for Sierra Mist, hosted the first season of NBC's hidden-camera show Spy TV, and later became the mascot for BarNone. He'd later talk about his time as the sock puppet as "painful but amusing."

On VH1's I Love the 1970s/80s/New Millennium series, his dry, sarcastically irreverent commentary on pop culture artifacts added to his and the shows' popularity. On several occasions, Black said he felt as if he were "doomed to an eternity" of doing the I Love the... series. He also mocked himself for being a Jewish-American and sarcastically infringing Jewish stereotypes.

Black is a poker enthusiast and appeared on five episodes of Celebrity Poker Showdown, first appearing for the Endeavor House charity. He appeared on MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger in 2004 and 2006. In 2006, he came in third (receiving $100,000 for his charity). Dave Foley, the show's host, and poker specialists Phil Gordon and Phil Hellmuth were praised for their humour and his tactical poker play.

In the latter part of 2004, he appeared as the guest host of CBS's The Late Late Show while auditioning for the permanent hosting role. He had been a finalist for the position, but Craig Ferguson took over the job. He is also a regular contributor to McSweeney's online edition, where he writes "Michael Ian Black Is a Very Popular Celebrity" in a column.

Black, as well as fellow state legislator Michael Showalter and David Wain, co-starred in and co-wrote the Comedy Central series Stella, a television adaptation of their famous stage show. The ten-episode first season debuted in June 2005 and was not renewed for a second season.

Black produced the screenplays for two film comedies, Wedding Daze (2006) and Run, Fat Boy, Run (2007, co-written with leading actor Simon Pegg). Jason Biggs, Joe Pantoliano, and Isla Fisher appear in Wedding Daze, a Black film.

There are also some minor screen credits on Black. He appeared on the Adult Swim Show Tom Goes to the Mayor twice as a guest speaker on Seth Green's stop-motion show Robot Chicken and later did a bit for Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! And 50 Other Mind-Blowing Essays That Would Blow Your Mind This Day. He appeared on Comedy Central in 2008, hosting Reality Bites Back, a scripted reality show.

Michael Ian Black Doesn't Understand was the catalyst for Black's second appearance on Comedy Central, which I'm sure you't understand. Michael & Michael Have Issues was retooled as Michael and Michael Have Issues; a pilot episode starring Michael Showalter was shot in August 2008. In February 2009, Comedy Central revealed that a seven-episode run of the show will air in July.

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing's Publishing first children's book, Chicken Cheeks, was released on January 6, 2009. Kevin Hawkes illustrates the book. Kirkus referred to the book as "a seamless blend of text and illustration" in a starred review. On the Michael Showalter Showalter Showalter Showalter, an alternative review was broadcast.

Black appeared in several Sierra Mist and Klondike commercials, as well as a Showalter commercial.

Black instigated a "Celeb-Feud" — or "World's First Twitter War" in its entirety — on February 21, 2009, with LeVar Burton deciding if he had more Twitter followers than Burton. "Le War" was black's feud.

Mike and Tom Eat Snacks, along with his longtime Ed castmate Tom Cavanagh, began the podcast in 2010. In June 2012, Black and Meghan McCain co-authored America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom. During the summer of 2011, the two explored America, showing how Americans were living.

Bill Tundle, a spoof the television show The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, appeared in the web series Burning Love in 2012. Candace Bailey co-hosted G4 TV with him last year. He has appeared on Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld on occasion. Randall Tyree Mandersohn appears in Adult Swim's late night infomercial parody, You're Whole. Black would appear in the pilot after a guest appearance in the pilot, and it was confirmed in 2013 that he would appear in the FOX comedy Us & Them on a regular basis.

In 2013, he and Michael Showalter introduced the podcast Topics. Black, alongside Jason Ritter, Alexis Bledel, and Kerri Kenney-Silver were among the 13-episode US version of the hit UK sitcom Us & Them, which was cancelled when the seventh episode was in progress. Any of the episodes will not be shown on Fox. Brian was played by Black in the role of Brian.

In 2018, Black began hosting Obscure with Michael Ian Black, in which he reads classic literature and makes a comment about the books as he reads. Author Thomas Hardy's Jude the Obscure is the first book he reads in Season 1. He reads Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in Season 2 of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Emily Bront's Wuthering Heights is the third chapter in Season 3.

In May 2020, Black returned to a resurgent Reno 911. Captain Schwartz, a new recurring role, is recalled for his birthname. Schwartz is the commander of a heavily militarized parody of Hatzalah, the Jewish volunteer medical service.

Black paints a picture of America as 'a war machine sponsored by Ronald McDonald' whose infrastructure, education and health care services are crumbling. The liberal Chicago-born comedian says America is such a 'dysfunctional mess' that he doesn't believe the results of the 2024 election will make a difference either way.

What is Mastodon?Everything you need to know about Twitter's rival

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 7, 2022
Mastodon, named after the extinct elephant-like mammal, is a free, open-source social media network that supports Android, iOS, and desktop. It was launched in March 2016 by German software developer Eugen Rochko (bottom left), who wanted to give customers more autonomy over what they see and how content is moderated. Mastodon is similar to Twitter, but it describes itself as a "decentralized" alternative that doesn't have "one company monopolizing communications." According to Mastodon, the site now has more than 65,000 users, two30,000 of whom have joined in the last week. MailOnline explores how Mastodon works and what setting up an account really does.
