Career

After graduating from the University of North Texas, Rycroft auditioned for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. She performed for the team from 2006 to 2008. She appeared on Country Music Television's reality show Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team. She serves on the jury for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders auditions as well as serving as a showmanship coach to the training camp candidates.

Rycroft was one of the 25 bachelorettes competing for bachelor Jason Mesnick on the 13th season of The Bachelor. Mesnick preferred Rycroft over runner-up Molly Malaney and then suggested in the season finale. Mesnick left Rycroft just after the plan, saying he had feelings for Malaney. In 2010, Mesnick and Malaney married.

Rycroft debuted on season eight of Dancing with the Stars, where she was partnered with Tony Dovolani and ended in third place. Dovolani and Sherylani were both partners in the All-Stars season and were announced as champions on the season finale. She appeared on the Dancing with the Stars live tour later this year. She then returned as a trio partner to Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke in season 27.

On CMT, Rycroft and her husband Tye Strickland appeared in their own reality show Melissa & Tye. From April 20, 2012, to June 8, 2012, the show ran for one season (eight episodes).

On November 8, 2018, Rycroft and husband Tye Strickland launched a podcast with YEA Networks. Relationships, family, pop culture, and Reality TV are all interwoven in "logically Irrational." Every Thursday morning, iTunes introduces new episodes.

Rycroft is the host of CMT's reality-TV show Redneck Island. On June 1, 2018, Rycroft appeared on Morning Dose in the Tribune morning show.
