Ebubennem Ann Echikunwoke (MEG-?-lin eh-wOH-kay; born May 28, 1983), also known as Megalyn E.K., is an American actress best known for her work in television and film. Echikunwoke was born in Spokane, Washington, and began working in a theatre company at an arts academy and began performing in a production of The Steve Harvey Show at age 15.

Early life
Ebubennem Ann Echikunwoke was born in Spokane, Washington, to Mark Onigwe Versato Echikunwoke, an Igbo Nigerian father, and Anita Laurie. Her father, a refugee in the United States, was a survivor of the Nigerian Civil War, in which he sustained gunshot wounds, resulting in him contracting hepatitis B.
When Echikunwoke was four years old, her father, who later attended law school in Spokane, died of liver cancer caused by his war-related medical problems. Her mother moved her family and her siblings to Chinle, Arizona, where she raised Echikunwoke and her siblings. Echikunwoke was discovered at the age of 14 while participating in a theater performance at an arts academy summer camp.
Personal life
