Early life

Ebubennem Ann Echikunwoke was born in Spokane, Washington, to Mark Onigwe Versato Echikunwoke, an Igbo Nigerian father, and Anita Laurie. Her father, a refugee in the United States, was a survivor of the Nigerian Civil War, in which he sustained gunshot wounds, resulting in him contracting hepatitis B.

When Echikunwoke was four years old, her father, who later attended law school in Spokane, died of liver cancer caused by his war-related medical problems. Her mother moved her family and her siblings to Chinle, Arizona, where she raised Echikunwoke and her siblings. Echikunwoke was discovered at the age of 14 while participating in a theater performance at an arts academy summer camp.

Personal life

In 2007, Echikunwoke, Justin Long, Olivia Wilde, and Kal Penn campaigned for 2008 Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. The All-Actor All-Star Voter Education Tour, which was a winter tour of college campuses and bars in Iowa, helped register new college-age voters ahead of the election.

Lauren Sanchez's first $2m indie movie starring Jeff Bezos's teen daughter descends into chaos

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 21, 2023
Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos' debut film, has been mired in chaos amid rumors that she adored a 'lavish' trailer and begged her helicopter on location, despite several crew members' departure. Sanchez, 53, funded the $250,000 psychological thriller 'The Golden Door,' which was shot last summer and will feature a cameo from Bezos' teenage daughter. However, reports confirm that the film set was 'chaotic' and full of drama, but that those close to Sanchez have hit back insisting she is the perpetrator of'sexism.' Megalyn Echikunwoke, top right, and Daniella Kertesz, mid right, appear in the film. Kellie Madison, bottom right, who has reportedly since left the project, has apparently led it.
