He was the host of The Planet's Funniest Animals on Animal Planet, as well as shows on MTV, ESPN2, Fine Living, ABC, and DirecTV.

Gallant hosted Simon Cowell's American Inventor in 2007 and now co-hosts "The List" on Scripps Network.

Matt Gallant Career

Early career

Born in Syracuse, New York, on June 25, 1964, and raised in Westport, Connecticut. Gallant studied communications at the University of Rhode Island, where Gallant worked in the sports information section and broadcast university basketball and football games. At Channel 6 in Providence, Rhode Island, he spent an internship covering sports news. Gallant left New York after graduating and became a page for NBC and drew huge audiences for shows such as Late Night with David Letterman. He then recruited an agent who was able to locate minor roles in television commercials and soaps. He then migrated to Los Angeles, where he appeared in various small roles. Gallant hosted X-Treme Energy, The Planet's Funniest Animals, and American Inventor eventually.

Gallant delivered the Commencement address at the University of Rhode Island in 2004 and was named Honorary Doctorate of Arts for his lifetime and fundraising & volunteer service with the Make a Wish Foundation, which supports children with life-threatening illnesses.
