Markéta Irglová (born 28 February 1988) is a Czech singer-songwriter, singer, and actress.

Early life
Irglová began taking piano lessons at age 7 and began playing the guitar at age 8.
Personal life
When Irglová was 13 years old, she met Glen Hansard in 2001. Her parents arranged a music festival in the Czech Republic and booked The Frames. Hansard was involved not only in her growth as an artist and songwriter but also in the beginning of her career. Though they met years ago, Hansard's affair with her mother reportedly began during the making of the film Once and ended in 2009.
When recording her first solo album, Anar, Irglová moved to Reykjavk, Iceland, where she met Icelandic music producer Sturla Mórisson (Sturla Mio Thorisson). They married and now have three children together. Irglová is a dual citizen of the Czech Republic and Iceland and is fluent in Icelandic.
Career
Irglová is a member of Glen Hansard's band The Swell Season. In 2006, the band's eponymous album, Overcoat Recordings, was released. Irglová co-starred in the indie film Once in 2007. Several of the songs for the film, including "Falling Slowly," received an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and Irglová co-wrote many of the songs. At the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, the film received the World Cinema Audience Award for a dramatic film. With Bob Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere," Irglová appeared on the 2007 I'm Not There soundtrack.
When accepting the Academy Award, she and Hansard were left hanging before she could begin her acceptance address. Jon Stewart, a late evening comedian, called on the program to bring her back on stage to finish her address. She ended it by wishing "fair play to those who dream."
Once (musical) received eight Tony Awards and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, 2012, for the Broadway stage adaptation.
Irglová was named one of the 2022 participants in Söngvakeppnin 2022, the Icelandic national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, where she is competing with the song "Möppn"/ "Possible" in 2022.
