She began her musical career in 1982 with the band Dianthus. She participated in a music competition in Jihlava in 1983 and met the artist Petr Sepén, with whom she later collaborated and started a friendship. Sepén died as a result of a car crash in 1985.

She began working with Czech pop singers, such as Frantiek Janek and Ladislav taidl, her life partner for many years, in the second half of the 1980s. She recorded her first solo album I.B. in 1987, for which she received an award from her record label, Supraphon.

She released many chart-busting albums, including Ve jménu lásky and B'l kámen, in the late 1990s. Her name has diminished with the start of the new millennium, partly due to scandals surrounding her personal life. She declared a 'creative break' in 2006. EMI released a 3–CD collection of her greatest hits in 2008, titled Platinum Collection. In 2009, she was named in the TT Awards' TV poll. She appeared in a reality show about her personal life on television station Ptka in October 2012. She was hospitalized in Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital in 2013 as a result of alcohol use.

Josef Rychtár, her second husband, was married to actor and film director Ji Pomeje from 2008 to 2014 (from 2013 to 2014). Artur, her son from her friendship with Ladislav taidl, had one boy, Artur.
